"Our first half of our lease not too much to complain about, however our landlord then switched properties leaving us with no one to contact about issues inside building. When contacting maintenance about appliances breaking or birds living on our roof for months there was no fix or effort made to solve these very annoying problems. We pay a good amount for a small space; and there auto payment would never work monthly giving us late fees of $40. No one to contact about these issues it’s extremely frustrating"
"The positive: they allow pets, and the on-site managers are usually nice, but aren’t able to be very helpful because the turnover is high. The negatives: they raise the rent every year, but new people moving in get a lower rate. As mentioned, local management is ok but leaves because apparently upper management is bad (as explained by our favorite onsite manager). No extra storage as advertised because it’s kept cold and damp so some things will get moldy and anything of value is stolen (both happened to us). Not allowed to keep things on your porch either, so extra set of tires? You have to keep them in the apartment. When we were moving out, we couldn’t move into our new place until the 4th of the following month but they refused to prorate and let us stay an extra few days (meaning we had to move everything into storage for 4 days and then back out again). Finally, an offsite manager that only came by occasionally decided to have our Toyota pickup towed because they thought it didn’t run (it did). When we said it did, they said we hadn’t registered it. Turns out we had, but one of the many managers had recorded it in the wrong spot. Even when we proved it had been registered they refused to refund us for impound fee. All in all, if we ever need to rent again, it will not be with Weidner. Look into programs for buying instead of renting as soon as possible. Check out Residential Mortgage for a loan and Cook Inlet for an additional loan for your down payment (available for a few people at the beginning of the year for first time home buyers). Good luck!"
"The Hillside Chalet in Anchorage is great! It is by far the nicest apartment I’ve had here in Anchorage. Secure building, clean, well maintained, and within walking distance to pretty much anything you need. Mail and laundry is very conveniently located inside the building. They have a security company that always patrols the entire property. The neighbors are nice and the building is pet friendly. Sam, the onsite manager, is very friendly, always has a positive attitude and will go out his way to help out anyway he can! I have not had one problem here, ever. Highly recommended if you are looking for a great place to live! Thank you Weidner Apartment Homes!"
"The management (GiGi) here is amazing, maintenance is pretty spot on. Clean apartments in a nice secure building for a fair price. The laundry room is quite great. You can reload your card right in the laundry room and it's clean and well lit with several units. Hillside Chalet has proved to be a pretty good home."
"clean apartment, no bugs, false advertisement for the sq. ft. management is good not bad for a first apartment they did raise the prices for all apartments even ours that was already high for a tiny sized apartment ( about 100 sq. ft. less then advertised) supposidly 750 sq. ft. for 999 honestly, one of the best and cleanest apartment buildings we have witnessed in the anchorage area neighborhood is great most of the time walking distance to many places something we greatly appreciated and miss now that we're at our new bigger place. make sure all doors are closed when you get the chance. few neighbors were friendly, mostly keep to themselves laundry room is great never flooded, usually not crowded except sundays when everyone wants to do it at the same time so get your laundry done friday or saturday morning. you can put money on the card right in the same room (four washers, four driers) 24/7 folding table brightly lit mail box is indoors, make sure you close it all the way and mess with the knob inside sometimes. we'd get mail sent to us from previous renters, no big deal write R.T.S (return to sender) less sketchy then most other places parking is first come, unless you park after nine or so not difficult to get a parking spot in front. mostly clean, they vacuum every so often, they allow dogs sometimes it'll smell like wet dog hair not a big deal overall experience here was amazing just it sucks that the prices had to be raised and the place is tiny."
