"My family and I have been happy tenants for over a year and a half. Our experience has been great. Mark has done a great job responding fast to questions and concerns. The cleaning crew has done a phenomenal job every single week. Snow removal has been prompt and amazing and trash is regularly clear every week. I say all that to say Mark is running a great ship here. We are overly satisfied with his work. He had a great 2023 year and we all look forward to this year being great as well. "I called last month to figure out what it would look like to rent this place. I choose to save up and buy a home, but I had to leave a review for the nice woman who helped me..Cassie. She was AMAZING. I mean, one of the friendliest people I have ever spoke to. Her customer service skills are impeccable. She listened to my needs, gave me options on what I could afford. Sadly, I heard so much negative about Chugach South (seems to be stemming from before she got there). So I decided not to rent. But I had to leave a review for Cassie, she is one of the best property managers I have ever encountered in terms of truly caring about each potential tenant and tenant. 5 stars well deserved."
"My husband and I have lived here a year and despite our financial struggle during Covid, we have always put paying rent first on time until this month. I called to let our leasing office know we'll be late and having applied for the Alaska Housing Rental Assistance program, also gave them a copy of our certificate of pre-approval, HR code, and screen shots of our status in the application process (which is on it's final stages). We were told this is enough until we can pay our rent. A few days later we recieved a call telling us we must give our certificate of approval (something we don't have yet) or they have to give us an eviction notice. We're still waiting on Alaska Housing to reach out to us and despite explaining we can pay rent in just three days on pay day, they still placed an eviction notice on our door. Chugach South Apartments has made little to no effort to work with us in our time of need and placed unnecessary hardship on my family. *Also important to note: The CDC under the Biden Adminstration has placed a hold on evictions until June 30th, 2021. We shouldn't have recieved this letter in the first place."
"DISCLAIMER: I lived here approximately a year ago. NOISE TOLERANCE: A positive of these apartments is that many of the apartments don't share walls with each other (I stayed in a unit on the second floor, edge of the building, facing the parking lot and the only unit connected to mine was the one above me since my ceiling was their floor). PARKING: I will say this- I lived there for more than two years and there were about 15-20 times that someone was parked in my parking spot and when I called management, not once did she ever do anything about it. She says she will, and sounds very convincing, too. And even though there are four huge signs all around the parking lot that parking violators WILL BE TOWED, she never once made that happen. Anyway, the units on the third floor get the car ports (and the third floor units also have vaulted ceilings!!). Everyone else parks in assigned spots the parking lot. SECURITY: There are no cameras, and doors are sometimes propped open (very seldom, though). CLEANLINESS/APPEARANCE: Hallways don't smell great, and when apartments are cleaned for new owners, they don't hire a service. It's just the landlord and her 10-year-old daughter wiping the apartment down with rags and some soap, even though they take money from your security deposit as a "cleaning fee" when you move out. PRICE: I'm sure the prices vary, but we paid approximately $1200/month for a two bedroom, one bathroom, 725 sq. ft. unit with outdated appliances/appearance (the counter tops are orange plastic and the stoves are so old that their fans don't work, and the refrigerators leak and constantly have to be fixed) and one assigned parking spot. Just for perspective's sake: as of today, I pay $1160/month for a detached apartment (all apartments don't touch), two bedrooms, two full baths (one of which is in the master bedroom), 1025 sq. ft. with a 6-car driveway for each unit and all new appliances/appearance, plus REAL granite counter tops. Needless to say, there are better places to live in Anchorage that give you way more for what you pay for."
"The building is only secure 10% of the time, other than that the doors are propped open. Since I've lived there I've only seen 3 people put their dogs on a leash, there's glass shattered in the parking lot and surrounding neighborhood and when doing maintenance they've dropped a couple screws and nails which have ended up in my tire. A positive would be the carport parking and the space inside the apartment."
