"Completely incompetent. I can’t rely on Durham to pick up my kids at a consistent time or they just miss the stop altogether so now I have to take my kids to school and change my schedule at work. Why do our tax dollars pay for service like this?"
"Durham bus company has been very difficult to deal with this school year. Poor communication, and when I get a call back from a major complaint the staff's attitude is terrible towards myself and my complaint. They put their lack of communication blame on the school district messaging system instead of taking full responsibility for THEIR own lack of communication! It has been a challenge ever since we returned back to school after the Christmas break! I really dislike having to deal with this company! It stresses me out every time I have a major issue, like a bus being an hour late to pick up my child! I would not recommend this company to anyone in Alaska! The bus company needs to work on how they speak to parents and how they handle their complaints from parents. Putting all blame on the school district is ridiculous. Two weeks after Christmas holiday my daughter and I were left standing in terrible weather and high winds for literally 50 minutes one day, 40 minutes another and I would not get updates or messages about late or delayed busses, until AFTER I called in and complained after my child was finally picked up. Interesting. I hope the rest of the school year goes better for the bus system and communication."
"Updat 1/2024: No calls no show, this bus service isnt looking to good, and then trying to drop my student on major hwy..are you kidding me? They changed the stop w/ no notice.. Update..3/6/23, no buses even for s.ed students, now they get extra funding for those busses but still no SERVICE, THEY OUGHT TO BE SUED. Keep shifting the blame.. Now bus service only avail. 3x week.. Switch to home school..much better.. And winter is coming. They even changed pick up location to another address to a vacant lot down the street..what?????"
"Called twice to report my child being left home because the bus was early. Child ran after the bus and the driver never checked their mirrors. Then my child caught up to the bus and was beside the bus and still took off without picking her up. Told the safety supervisor would call but didn’t. Called the school district and was told that they would make sure the safety supervisor would call but still didn’t. If they call in the morning and say they will be late. Don’t believe them."
"1/5 stars for Poor communication within the organization, no apparent procedures for information dissemination, or no follow through. Lets first Disregard the hot dumpster fire that was 2022-2023. So far in the 2023-2024 school year; my child's stop was changed from 1st stop to last stop without us being informed, therefore changing his pick/drop off times; he missed being picked up for over a week before we had this information clarified (we even called Durahm directly, and they still quoted us the previous schedule and denied a change.) He waited 45 min multiple days due to their failure to communicate. Next major issue; my elementary schooler has reported several bullying incidents happen on the bus, after talking the principal repeatedly he confessed "...the busbarn is supposed to report these issues, and we have gotten zero reports this year."(this conversation was yesterday- 3months into the school year and ZERO reports?) Driver cant even deny not seeing one of the incidents, because my child's backpack was TAKEN and THROWN off of the bus infront of the driver.... That's not okay. Either Duram doesn't have procedures in place for internal/external communications, and reporting of incidents- OR it doesn't follow its own procedures; Either way it's very disconcerting."
