Reviews of Anchorage Dojo
"Stopped by one day to take a look at the school and ask a few questions but never actually been to a class so take my review with a grain of salt.... Overall, it looked like a nice Judo school. Just not one i'd sign up for. After some careful thought I decided to look elsewhere. Instructors are a few elderly men and the others are all women. Majority of the students seemed to be little kids still in grade school. Ive been interested in learning Judo for self defense for a long time, and I'm a heavy, healthy young adult male . I just don't feel comfortable training with people with such a huge age gap or a different gender. I've wrestled a long time ago, and my grappling style may be a bit too intense for a place like this. Furthermore, the class schedules are really sporadic and don't compliment my work life very well. Its all volunteer instruction, so if anything comes up, then class is canceled. -The dojo is located in a very small unit inside of a plaza. It has a decent amount of space for a small class, but anything over 10 or so ppl on the mat then it gets really crowded. In summation, it seems like a great place for a child to get introduced into the world of Judo, but for most guys looking for something a bit more like what you see at the olympic games, I don't think its the appropriate place."
"Just dropped by for one-day try. Mark is an excellent sensei(Instructor). He knows how to teach. This Judo club is a little bit away from downtown and a daily small rented place. It's location and facility quality should be improved to gather more students."
