Reviews of The Montana Dinner Yurt
"The Montana Dinner Yurt was an awesome experience! I don't know how people could leave negative reviews. They must have a negative picky life. We did the Yurt on Jan 8th and Skyler and crew did an awesome job. The other groups with us seemed to have a great time too. Not many people get to experience something like this and we enjoyed every minute of it. The food was delicious! The guy playing the guitar was perfect! The atmosphere was therapeutic with the candle light and fire pit. Skyler and crew were always walking around making sure everyone had what they needed. Money buys nice things and I highly recommend the Montana Dinner Yurt for a very unique dinner."
"I'd give it a 1-star but I'd feel awful - it's not the worst but the yurt is not what it's billed to be. Taking the cat was interesting and being able to ride on top as an option was unique. Everything else was dime store for $230/per person (plus tip) and an awful value. Waiters are dressed to shovel your driveway (or drive the cat in this instance) not serve food. Somehow they make 3 courses last 3+ hours. Mediocre french onion soup when you arrive coupled with grocery store bread loaf. Then a 45 minute break to either sled down a dark, unlit road or sit around a single fire pit with only 7 chairs. Next course is family style mash potatoes, roasted zucchini and sliced tenderloin. It's not plated service?? Literally bowls of skin-on mashed spuds and roasted, quartered and sliced 2" zucchini chucks placed in the center of the table. $230? Another long wait till the "Toblerone" fondue is set with sliced banana, apple, oranges and pound cake cubes. Coffee (but decaf unavailable). It's BYOB which is fine as the Hungry Moose at the Exchange has a great beer and wine selection at retail vs restaurant markup. The music! OMG...single dude playing guitar up front. Much too loud so you can't talk to the people at your table without screaming. It would be more appropriate at a pub not a dining experience. He was fine enough playing Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Beatles, etc covers but a simple quiet instrumental would have been a perfect live addition but the sound misses the mark. In the end it was the music volume that really set me off and triggered me to write this. I could not enjoy a nice dinner with my family around the table in what should have been a better curated experience. Unless they create some actual value I suggest you skip the Yurt at Big Sky. There are considerably better Yurt dining experiences at other resorts. I wish I took some pictures to really drive it home."
"Worth every penny. Great dinner, extremely friendly service, relaxing acoustic guitar, and what a unique/amazing experience. Disclaimer, you have to enjoy the elements to see the value here. Loved every minute"
"Such a fun and unique experience. Staff and service was excellent. Food was so good. I had the salmon, partner had beef. Both were excellent. 2nd helpings of beef were offered as well. Portions were large and very filling. I would definitely recommend!"
"One of the best dining experiences I have had, we even got to ride on top of the snowcat on the way to the yurt! Delicious food, sledding in-between meals, great atmosphere. I recommend this to all of my Real Estate clients, a must-do while in Big Sky."
