"Been going there once in a blue moon for past 18 years. Never had to rush in this store by cashier or never received lack of customer service for the decades. Never had to rush to find my own liquor by cashier , like they are now but cashier is slow when it is time to check out. Not sure what happed to this location , maybe of ownership or changed management. It’s just not the same."

"I was not aware that this place even existed had it not been for the suggestion given while visiting nearby Gold Rush Liquor, to give Value Liquor on Old Seward a try--regarding my search for a particular item. Reviewers for this store have mentioned the local ownership and atmosphere which should be a plus in this box-store world. I get that. However I have received exceptional service at our locally owned Brown Jug store on Lake Otis and Northern Lights, also Brown Jug Warehouse. Even so, it just barely eases the pain of seeing the ridiculously high prices, not to mention having to pay a alcohol tax that is currently being grossly misused. Does Value Liquor live up to its name? Most reviews say yes. What about all around good customer service? Most reviews are good with that as welI. Unfortunately, I must personally point out an exception as far as that goes. During my most recent visit, which was my first time here, even though I received decent help from a particular young man who was working there, I was a bit turned off to see a gentleman who pretty much sat there on a chair behind the counter with what seemed to be a permanently placed look of gloom on his face. I was reminded of my 40 year customer service- forward position serving the public, and well, let's just say the look is not very welcoming, and did nothing to provide me with wanting to make a return visit or recommend this place to others. So, off to Brown Jug I go, Freddy's Liquor, and Costco! hitting the sales to save some change, and enjoying the local enthusiasm of the workers who are always happy to help."

"Value liquor has a wide selection of beers and spirits. I like to stop in here because they are one of the few places that carries Anchorage Brewing Companies, or Turnagain breweries, craft beer. I like that they carry the single glass bottles with swing tops and wired corks. Most places don't have ABCs beer and if they do it is only a couple brews. Prices seemed fair as well."
