Reviews of Lake Solitude
"Most of the hike is very flat once you get up into the canyon. Weather was great, I highly recommend going to Grand Teton National Park in Late Summer. Lots of great views coming and going. I don't think dogs are allowed but there is a way to get horses and other stock animals there. I drink a lot of water and 3 Liters was fine for me. If you get a permit, there are campsites near the lake."
"I went there in mid June and the lake was still frozen over and the last 1.5 miles the trail went through deep snow. Cascade canyon hike alone will not give you the insane Teton peaks views, but this trail does. If you can walk another 2.7 miles (one way) once you you reach the fork.... it'll be well worth the extra effort. Bring bear spray."
"June 30th. Last mile of trail was still snow covered. I'd suggest yak tracks for this as the snow is slippery and slushy. Otherwise a very strenuous but beautiful day hike. I'd definitely do it again, but next time I think I'd get a backcountry permit and split it up into 2 days, just for the photography. Saw no bears, but did see 4 Bull Moose and a lot of marmots and Pikas. Temp difference was about 30 - 40 degrees from the boat dock to Lake Solitude, but because of the difficult hike, we didn't have to add any layers. We did take a layer off on the way down."
"As of 27th May 2022.. fully snowed over. Pretty tough trek, as the last section was fully covered in 1-3ft of snow. But the 4 hour hike up was worth the effort. Stunning"
"Fantastic hike! Did this in late November and the colors and views were amazing! The lake lived up to its name, as it was covered in snow and Serene at the top. Highly recommend!"
