Reviews of Eklutna Historical Park
"Interesting and worth a stop….but unfortunately the graveyard is in need of some caretaking….overgrown and many of the spirit houses are in disrepair"
"This is a historical graveyard attached to the Russian Orthodox church. It is a lovely site, but make sure you spray yourself with bug repellent. The mosquitos are brutal."
"This is one of my favorite places. Whenever I go to Anchorage, this is one of my must visit stops. It’s very peaceful and has a deep serenity. It has been very interesting seeing the transformation of the houses over the years."
"We mistakenly went to the "active" church instead of the historical one right beside, but the parishioners and priest inside had just finished services and were eager to talk so it worked out. Wish we could have stayed longer. I enjoyed learning about the church and the history. Super nice people! Be respectful of the spirit houses, as it is a cemetery, and do leave a donation in the box to help with upkeep. $5 a person is recommended."
"We loved this tour. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable about the history of the Eastern Orthodox church. He obviously has a lot of pride in this church and cemetery. The spirit houses were something I had never heard of and his excitement transferred to us when he was talking about several of the houses in this cemetery. I would recommend this tour to anyone. We even brought of 6 year old granddaughter with us and she enjoyed the experience as well."
