"I have done several trips with Marty and his crew always return home with great memories of the past weeks adventure. All of the guides I've had go out of there way to ensure all of the clients have the best/safest experience possible, including master chef cooking skills which was not expected in such conditions. Marty has been doing these trips for a long time he has developed a great working relationship with the Native community, local pilots and access to accommodations which is important for overnight stay in Bethel for early departure to the river, unfortunate weather delay or just hot shower. Looking forward to next year's river adventure."
"great guides, great gear, great fishing. An 8 day float on the Arolik with FRG was the highlight of my more than 40 years of flyfishing. Thanks to Marty for working so patiently to set everything up and Zach, Ben and Phil for taking such good care of us. Bows, dolly varden, grayling, silvers and more...trip of a lifetime"
"rom Grandma…. Our week on the Kisaralik with Marty, Larry and Matt (Murph) was fantastic in so many ways. Marty called us his multi -generation trip...we had us (grandparents) , our son and wife , and 3 grandkids (8, 11 and 13). Our son worked with Marty a lot before booking to choose a river, an area and dates to offer the fishing and exploring that would fit the group best. The Kisaralik and Frontier River Guides was a perfect choice. The guides had just the right combo of encouragement, challenge, skill and personality to make sure all of us had a great time. Of course, we all caught fish...and skill levels were very different among the bunch. To provide the exploring the kids wanted, we spent a morning hiking a ridge (renamed Blueberry Ridge) to get blueberries for salad that evening. The raft “assignments” changed daily so each got pointers and fun banter with all the guides. We always felt safe on the rafts and at camps no matter which guides we were with. And they made sure we got a variety of fish and fishing opportunities throughout the day. We were amazed and pleased by how the guides worked with the kids, who had a fun time with each guide. The food was excellent, varied and plenty of it. Can’t believe they got it all in those coolers and cooked it all on that cook stove! This was a trip of a lifetime, so glad our son chose FRG for this family adventure….and asked us to join the family trip!!! From Grampa Our son and our daughter in law invited us on an Alaskan trip of a lifetime with their family of 2 boys and a girl ranging in ages from 8 to 13. The trip included an 8 day raft trip on the Kisalarik River. The trip was organized by the Frontier River Guides: Marty (lead), Larry and Murph. We had 3 rafts and 3 guides to lead us on our adventure. We flyfished, hiked (complete with blueberries) and rafted for 8 days UNPLUGGED. No one missed a beat. The guides were extremely competant in safety, fishing, camping, cooking, rafting, conversation, etc. Their experience on these trips was obvious. They related well to all of us on the trip with genuine enthusiasm. We all caught good size rainbows included in our 7 different species. As well, Murph was quite the cook. And I think this trip was truely an Alaskan adventure we ALL enjoyed thanks to FRG!"
"I’ve done 6-trips on four different rivers with Marty and crew; all have been superlative. Scenery, guides, equipment and food are top-notch and the fishing is off the charts! Double camping on the Kisaralik and a day spent hiking and mousing for big Rainbows on small side channels that rarely, if ever, get fished have been a fishing highlight of my life. The fact that I’m returning for #7 this season says it all."
"Highly recommend any float trip with Marty. We have a group of 6-8 of all ages who have fished together from fly-out lodges, spike camps and floats for over 10 years in Alaska. We have floated with Marty on 8 occasions. "Our last trip with Marty was on the Kwethluk River in 2015, a nine day float, with beautiful scenery, uncrowded and with excellent rainbow trout fishing." He has very good rafts, good quality tents for those who need them, and an excellent food program. Can't say enough good things about Marty and his operation. Going back with them this coming June 2019."
