Reviews of Wilderness Express Train
"McKinley explorer Denali to Anchorage. What an amazing experience! All day long enjoy the most beautiful scenery drifting by while you enjoy interesting and entertaining narration by an amazing Train Guide. We had Stu and he was sensational! The glass dome cars are perfect for taking in the scenery in very comfortable and spacious seating. Our Bar Server was Lisa and she was so amazing and did an absolute stellar job of keeping us all well hydrated throughout the day. The cocktails were excellent, and the “chips n dip” were perfect train snacks. Downstairs is the dining car where you can get breakfast and / or lunch. The seafood chowder and the reindeer chilli were both excellent! Unfortunately we had a very cloudy day so didn’t get to see Denali, but non the less it was still an amazing day."
"My husband and I took the Wilderness Express train from Anchorage all the way to Fairbanks. Twelve hours sounded like a really long day, but it went by much faster than we expected. Our seats were very comfortable, and we could walk out to the observation platform anytime we wanted. We had both lunch and dinner on our trip, and both were excellent. Our service was also excellent, and our host Sterling was very knowledgeable and personable. We saw some beautiful scenery and saw some moose and a black bear. We were so fortunate to have an extremely clear day which made for some amazing views of Denali!"
"Very good experience. Went to Talkeetna from Anchorage as a part of Celebrity cruise land tour. Forward facing seats are on the upper level of the fully domed coach and the lower level has kitchen and a nice dining room. Ate made to order breakfast that was very good. There is also a bar in the upper level for coffee and drinks. The host, Sterling, was great; very knowledgeable, humorous and made the entire journey a learning experience on Alaska. There are two private coaches are at the rear of the train that are called Wilderness express, so the views are great. Enjoyed the views and experience. The view of Denali was so good, they stopped the train for pictures and viewing."
"Great views and experience from Fairbanks to Denali with a very smart, witty, and entertaining host named Sterling. Kept us learning and laughing all the way. The rest of his team was also great! The Mountain Blueberry Pancakes and the Denali Scramble were delicious! Overall a great experience. Highly recommend it!!"
"Wow! The wilderness express train is incredible! The view that you have from the dome is so beautiful and gives you a great panoramic view of all the scenery. We rode the train from Denali down to Anchorage, and I was worried about the seven hour time span but man did it fly by! When I wrote this train I was seven months pregnant but the amount of legroom they give you in the seats is awesome, and also a lot of space from the person next to you. The drink service is great, as well as the dining service! We only ate lunch because we were still stuffed when they were offering dinner. Great portion sizes and definitely give you a bang for your buck. The staff was really entertaining on the train was good stories, jokes, and also great information about the towns that we passed on our journey South. This excursion was well worth it, it was quite an entertaining ride back to Anchorage!"
