"This visitor center is giving tourists incorrect information on how to get to the glacier. The lady at the center gave us this paper with 3 options and crossed out Uber with no explanation and said that Lyfts are only allowed to drop off 1.5 miles from the glacier. When we got in our Lyft our driver said this is incorrect and they are able to drop off at the bus lot 600 yards from the glacier visitor center (thanks Carolyn!) and expressed frustration at many tourists being told this. On our way back from the glacier our Lyft driver said they are also telling people there’s no Uber and we told her we were told the same (we assumed that’s why Uber was crossed out). This is also incorrect — there is Uber in Juneau (thanks Dawn!) I don’t know why they are telling tourists wrong information. I am thinking they probably make profits from taxis or city buses. I still rated this visitor center 3 stars as the lady was friendly and kind but providing wrong information."
"The staff were very informative and provide clear information on how to get to the Mendenhall Glacier using public transport- they aren’t just trying to make money from you."
"Really enjoyed our time visiting with Barbara and Dan at the visitors center while waiting to surprise my parents getting off their cruise ship! Hope to see them again when we return to Juneau! Super nice and very helpful."
"Juneau Travel Visitor Center at the Cruise Ship Terminal location is one of several locations, is the biggest one, staffed mainly by unpaid volunteers to answer questions from visitors about the city of Juneau. The number one question is where is the toilet, the closest toilet is at the Tram, on the outside, on the side of where the cable is strung. Free maps available for the city of Juneau and downtown area. Cost to ride the Tram is currently adults USD 35. Cost for shuttle bus to the Mendenhall Glacier USD 45, buy your tickets from the vendors in the kiosks, ask where to board the shuttle, when the last one coming back. Suggestions of things to do, places to dine based on the knowledge of it's volunteers."
"Excellent place for visitors to learn about Juneau and get free maps, brochures, and tourist information. A wonderful group of friendly volunteers welcomes you to Juneau and helps you learn more about Juneau's attractions, events, places to stay, restaurants, and outdoor recreational activities. They can also help with your nearby trip-planning needs. Wheelchairs available free of charge 8am-5pm."
