"Beautiful property, excellent location, friendly and responsive hosts. Very spacious, well-appointed with supplies and amenities. We rented out all 3 units for our group of 18 for a small wedding. Our guests loved being able to walk out the back door and fish in the Soda Butte, as well as enjoy the hot tub and many outdoor gathering spaces. After one guest lost the keys to their rental car, hosts were accommodating about leaving the car parked there over the busy 4th of July weekend when they were using the property themselves with a bunch of their own guests and friends."
"Have visited Cooke City quite a bit, but have only stayed at MTN LUX once - the nicest place I’ve seen in the area! Amazing secluded mountain property, gorgeous cabin & interior, comfortable beds, big open kitchen, beautiful sauna & outdoor hot tub, great dressing room for backcountry snow bikers / sledders / skiers, etc - a worthy experience and can tell the owners put a lot of custom & creative work into building it. The multi-use layout and privacy is effective - didn’t even realize there was another group staying there until we talked with them outside. The owners are friendly, professional, and super knowledgeable about the area - many Cooke locals seem to know them and speak highly of them. Can tell they’ve spent a ton of time in the area. They don’t seem like the type of owners who are like long distance property managers - they care about Cooke, the local community, and the backcountry. Plentiful 5-star ratings across multiple sites. It seems like there’s one specific group of travelers had an unfortunate experience a month ago and was unable to visit during repair and reopening of the park after the major Yellowstone flood. It appears like the group submitted multiple negative reviews at the same time on Google with limited review history and without experiencing the location or Cooke City. (I’ve visited Cooke multiple times in winter and there’s a bit of misinformation in the review - if unsure, always verify with USFS, the owners, or Cooke locals). Seems unfortunate, but not representative of the location, the owners, or typical seasonal conditions. Would highly recommend. Just wish I could’ve stayed longer!"
"The listing has incorrect and misleading information- "The road to Cooke City from Gardiner, through Yellowstone National Park, is kept open year-round." This is not true based on seasonal weather and snowfall. The entire city of Cooke shuts down in the winter, as early as October, and this is not advertised or communicated. I was coerced into booking this location for a large group after specifically asking the host about seasonal accessibility, only to be informed by our transportation company from the airport that the roads & passes would be closed down and entrances to Yellowstone are also closed down during our booked dates at the end of October. The local Forest Service confirmed this information and warned about the treacherous & impossible conditions when accessing the location. The host was misleading in our direct messages about activities available during our stay and the safety conditions accessing the property. The host also told us that we would be allowed to utilize the Forest Service across the street for target practice, while the local Forest Service informed me this was absolutely not allowed, there is no public land in Cooke City for shooting- a huge liability issue to provide this inaccurate information around gun safety and road safety to guests. The ATV and snowmobile rentals that would “definitely be open”, were not. Our large group had to cancel their flights and suffered the financial loss of having to find a new booking and paying for a stay we did not utilize due to INACCESSIBILITY. We cancelled through Airbnb within the cancellation policy timeframe for 50% of the nightly stay fees, but were hoping the host would understand that safety should be prioritized and that deceptive advertising was a huge barrier to making an informed decision. Instead, the host became argumentative via messenger questioning my political views? asking us not to book again in the future because of our group's character? And refusing accountability for falsely advertising. Completely unprofessional, selfish, and rapacious."
"We unfortunately didn't have the opportunity to stay as the floods during June made it uncertain whether or not we'd be able to access Yellowstone, but during the process of trying to figure out what to do with the booking we had made at MTNLUX, the owners were very responsive, and also were understanding and accommodating of the changes we needed to make for our trip. I will definitely be rebooking as I'm sure they are great host if this how they always conduct their business."
"Excellent location with proximity to the Northeast gate of Yellowstone. We rented for a quiet getaway before snowmobile season. Would absolutely do it again."
