"Was calling around for custom cakes for my Son's 10th birthday. I was shocked to find out how expensive this place was and their rates (Example:$125 starting for 10" cakes, 75$ for types of filling/icing) I had ordered the cake for 2 weeks in advance and asked for a refund the day after ordering, so I could find somewhere more affordable, they told me they do not give refunds, and that I have to take the cake, even though it hasn't been made and it's been less than 24 hours since order was placed. DO NOT GIVE THIS CAPITALISTIC PLACE YOUR BUSINESS. Total was $120 for a 10" cake with only 2 layers........ Garbage. Everyone, please note the "owner" going through and attacking anyone who left a negative review with his victim-blaming demeanor and gas-lighting actions. None of the details he has mentioned in his reply to this review are factual. He came here to do damage control with nothing but fabricated lies to make him and his cake-shops look better. Do not fall for it. Go look at all the other negative reviews that were left, and HOW he responded to them. His actions speak for themselves."
"Is it so very unfortunate to write this poor review on the cake I received as a gift, as I have enjoyed many delicious desserts here with my kids! My fiancé, ordered a custom chocolate cake with a mushroom picture on top of it. The cake was beautiful. (Side note, I bake custom cakes as well for birthdays. But this year I wanted a professional cake as a gift instead of crafting my own.) The chocolate cake was either so over cooked or freezer burnt that it had very little flavor. It seemed as if it was drenched in simple syrup to cover up the fact it was incredibly dry and crumbly and had so little flavor. The chocolate ganache filling was also very skimpy and terribly uneven. I feel horrible writing this, as I don’t want to tarnish this studio’s reputation but seeing other customers similar reviews and this is STILL a prevalent issue, I decided to voice my experience as well. For how expensive these cakes are, you’d figure they would care to not cut corners. It is extremely upsetting to know that these cakes are on the higher price end in anchorage and it is a common issue with the VERY basic recipe and preparation of a cake. Please do not serve overcooked or freezer burnt cakes. Please do not cover up a recipe mistake or baking mistake with simple syrup. Please actually put the filling people pay for in the cake properly."
"I'm very happy I came across this store. The owner was very nice and talked about his selection of deserts in detail. A slice of red velvet cheesecake was either $6 or $6.50 and it was absolutely worth it!"
"This is after several times ordering disappointing custom cakes from this location, so this review isn’t made out of impulse. This last cake was ordered for a birthday- Paid a pretty penny because it was gluten free and custom. We got it and…this is what we paid all this money for. The icing was lumpy and grainy, and the jam in the middle layer (cost $22 extra) was just a blob in the center. Again, this is not the first time we’ve had a disappointing experience, but it’s worth sharing. If the star of the night is going to be a nice cake from a local bakery, please choose wisely!!!!!! Edit: My fiancé purchased this cake for a birthday. It is under their name. It does not make the review any less relevant then if they had written the review themselves."
"A pick-me-up!! Somehow my friend convinced me to go in this shop “just to look”. Now how you gonna go in a place this delectable and just look? You’re not…. So Obviously within 1 minute it was all, “so what we gettin’ girl?!” The choice was toffee cupcakes. Baking executed immaculately!! If they had the icing in a tub I would eat it with a spoon… no Shame! The cake part was soft and sweet, but not overbearing with sweetness. They have a small selection of local art! I bought some stickers, and made this my souvenir stop. There were some attractive paintings for sale as well. The aesthetic is winsome, and the desserts are on point. Let temptation win. If you’re walking by, treat yo self !"
