"After the Fur Rondy, we dropped by this nice and cozy store to get warm. We found a little cafe in the back of the store and decided to try it. First we were thinking of grabbing hot chocolates but there were also some nice looking doughnuts in the show window. So we ordered the vanilla and fireweed old fashioned ones. The vanilla one was good and tasted fresh so it must have been made that day. The fireweed one was unique and slightly spicy aftertaste but also good and we would recommend it as it is unique to Alaska. The cafe itself is not big and if you visit for afternoon tea time, it might be difficult to find a table but if you stay nearby, you can enjoy their drinks and doughnuts at your hotel as you can get it to go. But be warned, if you try to take a hot drink out in winter, a few minutes it will be cold."
"This is a cool little shop downtown that has all sorts of things. My favorite is the fireweed doughnuts!! They are a must if your in Anchorage!! Plus they have more cool stuff as well. The only bummer is that you have to look for parking, and pay to park as well before you can go in."
"What a great store! We stumbled on it while walking in Anchorage after flying in from the lower 48. The coffee, tea, and pastries fill the shop with wonderful smells. They were offering taster cups of a signature tea blend that has cinnamon, clove, orange, and other spices, which was simply heavenly. Another highlight of the store is the polish pottery. The brilliant colors and striking patterns are very attractive. There is also the typical Alaskan souvenirs, my favorite being a bumper sticker that says "Don't be an Oosik" on it. There is outdoor seating to enjoy your coffee and pastry in the back. I recommend stopping in for a visit if you are in the area."
"One of my favorite spots I've visited in Anchorage. Such a little treasure, full of unique gifts, treats, teas, and a great cafe with lots of fresh bakery goods. The donuts were very good! Highly recommend stopping in to browse and enjoy a cup of tea or coffee."
"So I heard so much about this place (reviews, YouTube, tour manager, fellow travelers). Thus, I can't leave Anchorage without visiting it. I was set to taste the famous Samovar glazed and Fireweed glazed donut. I was expecting something that tastes extraordinary, but it's just okay for me. Could it be that it was not freshly made? Like not fresh from the oven, I was expecting that it would be hot and tasty as what the other described. But nope, I was disappointed and couldn't really differentiate it from other best tasting donuts I had. There were 4 customers, including us, when we came. The cappuccino we ordered took a while to get served. I didn't order the famous Samovar tea. I was able to taste it, though (there's a free tea tasting within the store area). And I can say that Samovar tea is just as what they hype it for...perfectly blended if I may say. I love it and it is worth buying for your stash of tea or as gift."
