"Always a friendly greeting from the owner and roaster himself and upbeat conversation over the intricacies of the finest coffee in town. This is a seasoned coffee wizard working his best magic, both at the roaster and behind the coffee bar."
"When it comes to coffee in Anchorage, there is Bema, then everyone else. There is no coffee that comes close to Bema's quality. The depth of flavor in Jarame's roasts are well curated and carefully planned out. Jarame makes all of his own syrups and they are all excellent. I particularly love the brown sugar cinnamon syrup he makes in a latte. It's one of the most delicious drinks I have ever had the pleasure of drinking. I am a snob with my coffee. One time I got drip from Kaladi, took one sip, and set it back on the counter. I do not eat or drink anything for the sake of anyone's feelings, and I would not call Bema the best coffee I've ever had if it wasn't the best coffee I've ever had. If you've never tried Bema you're sorely missing out. Coffee shouldn't be suffered through, masked with cream and sugar just to get your caffeine buzz. Coffee should be a celebration, a ritual. Bema is just that."
"The coffee is fantastic, the venue is perfect, and the food is pretty good. We used to frequent this place when it was Uncle Leroy’s and the new owners have updated the venue nicely, improved the lighting, updated the seating (now big long communal tables), and expanded the menu. They still have solid WiFi is you’re a cafe remote worker (like I am) which makes it an indispensable stop during your work day. I look forward to seeing them expand their menu offerings and will be sure to come back often."
"I love Bema cafe. For one, the breakfast burritos are delicious and are heated up in a convection oven, not a microwave. They take about 15 minutes to heat up, and they come with a choice of red or green salsa and sour cream. For $1 more, you can get a drip coffee. The coffee is locally roasted beans, and are fair trade and ethically harvested. The vibe of Bema cafe is mellow, clean and friendly towards meetings and solo contemplation journeys over coffee or tea. I appreciate that they are open as early as 6am. Fantastic service and a whole vibe. Come into the Bema cafe fold. It’s a great hidden spot in Anchorage."
