"Had breakfast there with the family. Food was great, coffee hot and the service was top notch. The server also the owner gave us a history lesson about the photos hanging in the dining room and bar. Her mother was in one of the vintage photos dancing and in another photo our server was a little girl selling gold painted rocks with her brother. A true gem of a place. Should not be missed if you are passing through."

"Ordered fish and chips because reviews indicated large portions and "best fish and chips ever". We ordered two beers, bowl of soup, and the larger fish and chips (they offer large,$28, and small, $20, fish and chips). We shared the soup and dinner. The soup bowl was very very shallow - my guess is the cup of soup is poured into the bowl. Order the cup of soup. The large fish and chips consists of 5 balls of fish three of which were a tiny bit larger than a ping pong ball - two were ping pong ball size or smaller. The fish sat on a small serving of french fries - NOT HOMEMADE - and obviously the bottom of the bag because 95% of the fries were half an inch long or shorter. I am giving three stars because what fish there was was very good. I cant even imagine what the $20 small dinner is like. Wont be back and will post above on fb."

"Everything was great! The fish and chips were among the best I’ve ever, ever had. However, the fries were truly “meh.” They were a little greasy and not all that edible. Some alternative choices would make this meal perfect! Also however, the fish more than made up for the fries. It was delicious!!! The servers were excellent, too. They seemed to be, perhaps, barmaids because they knew all my bad Dad jokes, but laughed anyway…. They were friendly, conversant and got my difficult order just right. Highest marks to Bamboo room! We have a new-found love for Haines and we will definitely be back!!!"

"I picked up halibut fish and chips to go. The “Fish” part looked like five big hush puppies, they actually looked quite delicious! Until I bit into them and realized that more than half of what was contained in these balls was heavy, bready batter. Each of these hush puppy balls was about four bites worth, three of which were the heavy batter, one of which was fish. Had I been sitting in the restaurant when these were served to me, I would’ve returned them immediately. Unfortunately I did not discover it until I was back to RV park and it was too late. The small amount of fish contained in the balls was very good, for what it’s worth. But truly, the worst fish and chips I have had in Alaska. Super disappointing."

"Not an expert on Halibut fish & chips, but mine was absolutely delicious. I could have hung out there all day eating that. Cold beer, good slaw, crispy fries and juicy, tender but meaty fish that was mild and fresh tasting. The batter was crispy and not at all greasy. Scrumptious!!!"
