About the Earthquake Park
Earthquake Park is a fascinating tourist attraction located at 5101 Point Woronzof Road in Anchorage, Alaska. This park provides visitors with a glimpse into a pivotal moment in Alaskan history - the 1964 Earthquake. This earthquake, which occurred on Good Friday, measured a whopping 9.2 in magnitude, making it the largest quake ever recorded in North America.
The park features informative displays that narrate the geological forces at play during the earthquake, as well as Anchorage's history before and after the quake. Visitors can also explore a nearby interpretive walking trail that offers a close-up view of the shifted landscape caused by the earthquake. This trail is easily accessible from the parking lot and is situated along the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail.
Earthquake Park is a highlight of the Anchorage City Trolley Tour, a guided drive that showcases notable locations within the city, including the park. Additionally, visitors can explore Anchorage's many museums and historical attractions, which offer insights into Alaska's complex Native, Russian, gold rush, and settler history.

Reviews of Earthquake Park
"An incredible park offering breathtaking sunset views and the chance to catch the aurora. Complete with ample parking, it’s the perfect spot for an evening stroll along its scenic trails. The combination of natural beauty and convenient amenities makes it an ideal destination for anyone looking to unwind and connect with nature. Highly recommended for a serene and unforgettable experience!"
"Very beautiful paved trail but what I loved the most was taking the natural trail with the information about Earthquake Park."
"I did not know this at the time, but on my very first visit to Anchorage I got VERY lucky as the skies were clear enough to see Denali from the overlook! Its also a great park to walk day or night and a nice area to come across Moose."
"10/7- It's nice to walk the trails, read the history and take in the views. The problem is no one keeps their dog on a leash. The way people let them run loose means no one goes by to check. I'm a dog lover, but I don't want a stranger's dog running up on me. I wouldn't take my kids if they're afraid of dogs. This is worth visiting once. Take a left and it will take you to the water. I saw jogger's on my visit."
"Love Earthquake Park. One of my favorite places to go run along the scenic coastal trail. Also, learning about the history and still see remnants of the damage from the catastrophic earthquake. All In all, beautiful and majestic. Seeing the different wildlife, the airport is adjacent to the park so you can check out the aircraft coming and going. Really awesome place!"
