"If you value the sanctity of your family you will not send your children to Lowell. My daughter has a well-known medical condition where she gets skin infections very easily. Even with this condition and instructions written in her IEP from her doctor the staff at Lowell Elementary School will not follow these instructions. They have reported us to Department of Family Services on 11 different occasions because of the skin infection. There have been numerous instances where my daughter came home with abscesses the size of half dollars because they did not inform me that she had an infection. She has suffered all day at school because they do not follow the IEP. 11 different times my daughter has had to undergo painful testing/surgeries and the embarrassment of showing complete strangers her rashes or abscesses and explain that this is not something that can be stopped. She has been forced into allergy testing where they scrape her back with tiny needles, even though we had already done extensive allergy testing. She has had to endure painful surgeries to drain abscesses. All of this could have been avoided if Lowell had informed us earlier in the day that there was an issue, rather than calling Department of Family Services. They claim that because they are mandatory reporters that they are legally obligated to report any concerns, even though there is medical documentation. Because of the continuous invasions in to our home our family feels that we are being targeted and that Lowell Elementary does not respect the seriousness of these accusations and the emotional ramifications they are imposing on our daughter and the family as a whole. The doctors are becoming very irritated with having to continually explain the condition to Department of Family Services, and have given the staff at Lowell instructions on how to treat and or manage the situation. DFS has recognized each time that there is no reason for concern with her skin condition, as it is an immune issue and not the result of neglect. We are now seeking legal counsel, and will be taking action."
"One of my favorite Teachers was Mr. Smith in 4th grade. That was in 1982. He kinda reminded me of the dad in Family ties."
"I HAD A SET OF TEACHERS THAT ALL LOOKED THE SAME IT WAS SO WIERD... until 4th grade..."
