Reviews of THE SWEETS BARN
"This is a charming shop where one can find almost anything that would satisfy your sweet tooth as well as a great selection of tea, cooking blends and gifts. It is also amazing to know that the majority of the offerings are hand made in house from scratch. A rare and very special thing these days. Definitely a worthwhile stop and a great small business to support!"
"I am a candy lover, I really wanted to like this place but I have tried not once, twice, but three times!!! And each time I have tried I found the lady very rude and honestly the candy on the walls is stale. First time was a couple years ago and I was trying to order chocolate for my grandpa to send him a care package and I asked what she recommended and she literally said, “I don’t know…how would I know what he likes.” To be fair, she was right, however I would expect her to know her most popular chocolates and be able to recommend some chocolates without being snarky. The next time I came with my boys who were very well behaved each holding my hand and the moment we walked in she didn’t even say a greeting but turned to my boys who were 5 and 7 and said scornfully said “don’t touch anything or you’re buying it” I would have walked out but I promised my boys a treat. The last time was this last month, I was with my friend and she stopped, I could not believe it but she was grumpy again!!! (And that’s being polite) this is over a several year span!!! I don’t understand why you would have a candy store if you are grumpy all the time! I didn’t write a review the first two times but three times, I am hoping I can save someone the grief of stopping there. Save your money and go to Winco- it’s way fresher and more fun than this place. I can see I’m not the only person with these type experiences based on the reviews."
"The owner, Heather was so sweet and I loved hearing the story on how she ended up taking over the shop. There is a huge array of candies, coffee and teas to chose from. The fudge and chocolate items are made in house. The caramel varieties are so good. And I had never seen a lemon meringue fudge before so I had to buy. I will have to let you know how it tastes. Just look for the red building with the winter cow in front."
"Needed to mail a return to Amazon with prepaid label and this place was nearby, with no wait. Added bonus, the chocolate covered cherries and the huckleberry truffle were awesome. Friendly service."
"Absolutely horrendous owner. I have visited twice. The first time with my sister and she was shockingly rude. We thought she might be having a bad day so I didn’t write a bad review and I try to give small business owners my business. Today I went in to get some candy for my child and mom but had to use the restroom first. She asked me to leave very rudely in front of all her customers and use a portapotty outside because she thought I wasn’t a customer. My family are HUGE candy lovers and we definitely will never shop at this place ever again! Once is a fluke, twice we won’t return. Edited to update after owners rude response: I am editing to add that I did not yell or scream at her. I did make a beeline to the bathroom as I didn’t want to bring my candy into a bathroom. I did say that,” well, I guess I won’t be purchasing anything today.” I just want people to know that after two stops into this store, each time we have been treated poorly (and the first time was a year ago-not 50 mile garage sale). You thought I wasn’t a customer and shouted across your line that I was not allowed to use your facilities. You embarrassed a customer and ruined a sale. I know you don’t care, but I would reconsider how you respond to your customers. Your dishonest response to my complaint shows exactly the type of customer service you offer. I am shocked you are still in business quite frankly."
