Reviews of Bitterroot Trading Post Inc
"Great store and people!!! Dillon is very lucky to have them."
"Purchased a Leupold spotting scope from this place. After trying to use it for a week I was constantly getting headaches and eye fatigue. I knew it wouldn’t be the best scope as it was Leupolds entry model, but I figured I’d give it a try. I asked the store if I could return the scope, even for store credit or upgrade. I was completely prepared to drop more money on a more suitable product. I was turned away and told I should have known that the image would be blurry at full zoom because it was Leupolds entry level scope. I asked the owner if they knowingly sold a lot of non-quality gear, to which he replied, that’s what people can afford. I prefer to support small businesses when I can, but I guess I’ll be buying from big name stores that stand behind their product. Also, I work as a guide at a local outfitter here and we had plans of making a large purchase on a reloading setup and we will not be purchasing from someone that doesn’t back their product. We also have quite a few clients that spend a lot of money on rifle upgrades/work on my recommendations, that business will be taken else where. (Response) Sir, First, you absolutely did not say we have a range of products both high and low to fit what people can afford. By Leupolds retailer agreement “ REPRESENTATIVE STOCK The ALR agrees to stock a representative line of the Products, including riflescopes, thermal devices, binoculars, spotting scopes, rangefinders, and mounts for their sales area.” You did not meet the requirements of carrying a representative line. Second, I understand that leupold makes a range of products to fit certain budgets, however, the proper way to do business is to ensure that your customers have the product that fits their needs. Please check out Leupolds square deal policy. While, I understand you are in no way obligated to operate at their level of customer service, it’s a good way conduct business. Also, the other scopes you had in stock were a Nikon and a Burris that were far to large for backpack guiding/hunting. If you would like to make that point then you should have had the Leupold Guide and Santiam for comparison. It is often very difficult to evaluate a spotting scope in a store due to the lighting and the fact that you are not open late enough to test them in low light condition. If I were in your shoes I would have upgraded the scope and sold the older one as open box for a small discount and made profit on both while still ensuring my customers were happy. Finally, there are lots of businesses that stick around for 50 plus years and then fall under new owners/management only to fail due to poor business practices and a lack of ethics."
"One of the best places I've ever been! It's been 10 years, but I had to review it and give them some massive props! My paw-n-law is still wearing the cap I bought him from there in 2012."
"JD and his crew are so knowledgeable. His prices are the best in the surrounding area for firearms to reloading supplies. He also has great home decor that is very nice with that rustic touch."
"JD is a great person, an honest business man, and a professional. I'd recommend him to anyone. His prices are great, and the quality of his products is outstanding."
