"Review of Idaho River Journeys I would give these folks 10 stars, if I could! I just returned from their white water rafting trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. It was an absolutely amazing adventure. The magnificent beauty of the landscape and excitement of the rapids was equalled only by our “renaissance” river guides. They not only skillfully and safely navigated us through the rapids, but they set up and repacked our camp everyday, cooked and served gourmet fare for EVERY meal, led hikes to points of interest, educated us with their knowledge of the river’s history, geology and wildlife, and entertained us with their musical talents and stories of their life experiences. I can certainly say that our guides quickly became friends and they will be central to my cherished memories of this trip. Skip and Julia did an excellent job planning, preparing, and conducting the trip. Every aspect of the journey seemed to proceed smoothly and successfully. They even handled the surprise wildfire at the end of the trip without a problem. I can’t think of anything that would have made this trip better. For me, it was perfect in every way. I very highly recommend these folks if you are considering a rafting trip on the Salmon—and if you haven’t considered it, you must! There are few places left on earth that offer such an experience through 100 miles of unspoiled wilderness."

"The Idaho River Journeys team have anticipated every detail. I worked for many years in a backpacking program, and know something of how much work goes into creating a safe and successful wilderness trip. The IRJ guides treated us like royalty, serving three exquisite meals a day, with excellent wines every evening plus a margarita night. They taught us about local wildlife, geology, and cultural history. Months ahead, they arranged for special dietary needs for particular individuals and families. It's easy to get very comfortable with such first-class treatment. But it's also important to remember that these people are extremely accomplished river guides. The river is a powerful force, and our guides all respected that power and worked with it very skillfully. They taught a group of 23 guests, from about age 11 to over 70, the essentials of safe rafting and rowing, as well as wilderness stewardship. I have already begun recommending this program to friends and colleagues who, I believe, will treasure the experience just as I do. I will never forget my 6 days on the middle fork of the Salmon River with the IRJ team."
