"Posting this under my wife’s google account: Stopped in last October and rented a rod and waders, purchased a handful of flies, tippet, leaders, etc.. Dude was helpful and kind. I’m a seasoned fly fisher with 20+ years experience in AK. Within 10-20 minutes of fishing I lifted the rod on what could have been a fish or my shot hooked on a rock and bam, the rod snaps in its mid section. Immediately took the rod back in as I had just rented it within the hour. Same guy acted surprised and slightly questioned me like I was lying about the sudden break. Gave me another rod and off I went. Upon returning the rental rod and waders he notified me he was going to charge me the repair cost! Seriously? It’s a rental rod! Who knows what idiot had it before me and likely nicked the graphite or did something to weaken it. I’ve broken my own rods under very little stress from a similar scenario. Just saying, when you go out with a guide and break a rod only by using it how it was intended to be used does he make you pay for it?? I’m sure it’s paid for itself over and over so to give some petty repair charge is absurd. Especially since he rented me a damaged rod and acted like I slammed it in the car door or something a clown would do. I told him I was sorry I ever set foot in the store. And that’s the truth. It’s not about the $$ it’s about the principle. Don’t rent rods if you can’t afford to do the upkeep. It’s that simple. Disappointed customer- Phil Roake- October 2022"
"Robert was our guide and he made the day so much fun! Had a shortened full day due to Montana state Regs but we caught a bunch of fish and laughed a lot! Robert was super patient with my son who is a newer fly fisherman but had him landing a bunch of fish. Highly recommend bitterroot fly company. Very professional and great communication."
"I had a bad experience in here a couple years ago the person was not friendly, I feel like he mistook us for tourists.. Only cause the owners review response was not a bunch of excuses did we try them again, while I'd still debate the consistency of service I will say this visit was much better and our interactions were so much more respectable mutually. The people here know their business and can be helpful when coming to town for your outings, ask questions and engage tho as they don't serve up a ton of info without asking. As far as fly fishing in the valley if you want to make it memorable stop here first."
"Stopped by in September and the individual in the shop was super nice and very helpful. Hooked me up with a fly and I ended up killing cut throats. I called him when I got back to California and asked him for a dozen of the fly in a 14. I got my flies in a few days and at a very fair price. I will stop by again in July this year."
"This fly shop has got to be the BEST one for women's fly fishing interests. I go to every fly shop in every town when I travel (which is frequently). None compare to this. Bonnie, the owner, has a knack for presentation and choosing women apparel. Trust me, you won't be disappointed."
