Reviews
"I seldom make negative or criticism reviews because those blunt sentences could hurt the businesses and people working there. I don't want that happen to me either. However, I decide to write something about this establishment as I'm going to write both bad and good things and I kind of expect them to make improvement. I hope the review readers get my tone of speech and here there are. Bear Country Inn and America's Best Value is the same business. ABV is the chain name under Red Lion and such. I like low-key hotel/motels in small towns. I have stayed at many such places, especially for my fishing trips, and most of the time, I love them. Those hotels usually offer lower or the lowest prices in the area. This one was $100 a night before tax. It was a weekend but still in February in a small town. Website mentions of breakfast, which were packaged goods in the office, which I kinda expected so. No coffee maker or coffee in the room. Coffee was available at the office which opened at 8am. Slight inconvenience. -I actually brought a bottle of cold brew coffee. I kept it in the fridge along with other quick grocery items in the fridge in the room. The first overnight it seemed functioning fine. Then in the second morning, everything in the fridge was half frozen?? So I dialed the knob, no numbers on it, and when I came back in the evening, the fridge temp was like 36-38F. -Toilet got clogged, badly, with normal uses. This was fixed after I mentioned to the office in the morning. But who would want to see this happening during the vacation? -TV didn't work, period. I turned it on and pushed every button but nothing happened. I tried to dissociate from the regular things during the trip so I tried not let this bother me. -A reclining chair didn't recline...... -No table but counter like structure. When I sat on the chair mentioned above, that was too tall to serve as a table. - WiFi is slow, if it works. Though our phones and tablets are another everyday media, at least I want to check weather apps and catch up news in the morning and evening, you know. Luckily this area has good/normal cell phone receptions. I could use internet activities without WIFI, and could even jack it with tablet as well. Now I list good things. - Location is good. It's along the main street in this small town, sandwiched by hospital and school, so it feels safe too. It's right across Burger King and a big grocery store. This is also a huge plus. - Bed was good. As it's a small town and the hotel is in a good location, it was quiet at night and I had one of best sleeps in a while and out of my house. - Bed was fixed and towels were supplied every day. Trash was taken every day as well. (well then, how about suppling coffee in each room?) - Shower can be hot! AC, in this case heater, works! There you have it. Although there are a few good aspects, those inconveniences I listed nagged my mood - I was there to relax, not expecting luxurious and every service, but just wanted to have alone hours with minimal necessity in a low-key hotel. Unless these are fixed and improved, I won't stay here again, even if the price goes down. As with ay other topics and businesses, what I just wrote is based on what I experienced and thought. Other guests might say otherwise I hope this review of mine would help the future visitors to make decisions of where to stay."
"This is one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in a long time. This last weekend was a big hockey tournament weekend and our of all the rooms, we were the only people in the entire hotel. The room was plain, boring and cramped. The only thing on the walls was a small TV that didn't work. It had a very small space next to a bed to hang a few clothes on. The beds were uncomfortable with 1 pillow for each person. The highlight of the room was a nice sized refrigerator/freezer combo. They have NO breakfast and NO coffee. NOTHING. It was a horrible hotel in a beautiful city. The only positive was the location. It is located in the center of the city with coffee shops and restaurants within walking distance. DO NOT STAY HERE."
"The room do not have much, and constantly fighting the cold in November with air coming from the door and the windo even when closed. Their hot tub is broken and has been broken the last 3 times I have stayed here. The pool isn't bad, just not heated very well. Their service was decent. I love the location on main Street and easy to get in and out."
"Just stayed one night. Wanted to try a new place. Usually, stay at the Stagecoach Inn. Counter staff was nice and accommodating. The room was... VERY simple. 2 beds, tv on wall, one shared night stand, a table with 2 chairs, open closet, luggage stand, one painting on the wall, microwave, fridge (apartment size), single vanity sink outside of toilet/ bath, shower room. (No hair dryer). The room had a bit of an oder. Not smoke, but kinda. Not musty, but kinda.. hard to describe. I almost changed my mind about staying there, but decided, "It's only one night." It's not a "bad" place. It's just very simple. My son and I slept fine, although if you are a light sleeper, the ac/ heater unit may wake you. We would stay there again, but it wouldn't be our first choice. Maybe next time, we will try Super 8 or one of the others."
"The gal at the front desk was very nice, friendly and provided great service for our party (3 rooms) and our stay.. The rooms are not anything fancy and the bed is uncomfortable(needs upgraded) but the towels were nice, and room has a fridge and microwave. Room needs more outlets as there was very few available. Also was disappointed to wake up at 7am and no one was in lobby to get some coffee as advertised. Luckily there is a great teal coffee shack across the street that has amazing drinks. My kids loved the pool. Overall the great service we received outweighed the negative parts. Hopefully the hotel will get some much needed upgrades soon."
