Reviews of Bitterroot Health - Corvallis
"So fast and friendly!! The staff is always professional and welcoming. I can’t say enough about Dr. Dexter she always listens and makes sure I understand my options for my health. Thank you all for making my visits to the office great!!!"
"Dr Marina Leith was a nightmare of a doctor. I had only one visit with this one. It resulted in me needing to escalate to her supervisor. I am a Missoula resident, who usually travels out of her way to bitterroot health professionals because they’re typically so kind and way better quality of care. I have had nerve damage issues and spinal issues since over 10 years. I been bounced back from chiro to chiro and even did PT. I visited neurologists, and different doctors in different states spending thousands. I also have a handicap parking pass. Despite this Dr knowing this, she refused to even give me a referral to neurosurgery. She refused to give me a referral to gastroenterology despite me showing digestive issues on my chart, taking medication for it, and haven’t been seen by a gastroenterologist before. I had to literally beg her. Then she said “pick 1 referral.” In a panic, I had to pick the 1 that was most urgent and sacrifice the one that could wait a bit. Which wasn’t right. Going to a doctor shouldn’t feel like it’s a gamble to get care. She ignorantly refused my handicap placard renewal due to the fact that I walked myself in the office. I parked in the handicap spot to get in and it was right in front. The criteria for qualifying was that I couldn’t walk more than 200 feet without rest. Where I parked was less than 200 feet. I would even bet that from the parking spot to her office was less than 200 feet. The Montana handicap placard criteria also states it will deem someone eligible due to neurological OR orthopedic condition(s), not just 1 or the other, which I had both… and she refused due to my weight and her wanting to see me move more, despite me telling her it’s painful for me to do so, and I’d like to see specialists to help me with that and she refused and said my health journey doesn’t start with seeing other specialists, and it starts with her because SHE can help. Oh and that I should only see a physical therapist and not waste the specialists time! She is extremely pompous. Of course she will twist my words and say that didn’t happen. She’s one of those doctors that just focus on the fact you’re fat, and contribute every issue to that. Despite me telling her my neurological and orthopedic issues started when I was a young adult and I was a healthy BMI at that point. I really pray she doesn’t harm another person with her negligence. I saw the notes she put about me in my chart, it almost looks like she hopes that the other specialists turn me away by saying what her opinion is and what she wanted for me, despite me living with my conditions and being the one who has to deal with it. She had a “I know better than you attitude” and doesn’t allow patient advocacy. I had to escalate the situation to her supervisor. I had said that if God forbid, she continues to refuse, and my conditions worsened, that would be blood on Dr Leith’s hands. She said for my Gastro issues, to just go back on antidepressants. Like what?! Thankfully, after much of a fight, I got the referrals I needed. I was told by the supervisor to not bring up the issues at my husbands appt with her, and that she blocked off time for us all to speak after. I had a morning appt with her, and my husband’s was later on. I respected my husband’s appt. Shortly after she walked in and saw me with my husband at his appt, she confronted me saying “I know you had some concerns, saying you’d rather hear it from the specialists….” to which I said “I told your supervisor that I wouldn’t bring it up at my husbands appt.” Then she said I would have to make an appt. I replied “your supervisor already blocked off time after my husband’s appt for this concern.” and then she brought it up after my husband’s appt…. Be careful. If you decide to go, have a strong voice for yourself and do not allow this doctor to push you around! She should review the Montana handicap placard criteria I am not saying she should be terminated, maybe some sensitivity training or education on how to treat overweight and handicap placard eligible people better"
"Everyone is at the top of their game from the time you come through the door till you leave. One of the best things about having Kathie as my medical caregiver is that she truly listens to what you have to say and is very compassionate. And she goes above board to make sure you are getting the most effective medications for what ails you. AND, in all my years, of dreading going to the doctor, I can now say that is not the case."
"What a wonderful experience with Kathy Dexter. I don’t go to the doctor often but she made my visit worth it. Very thorough, doesn’t rush and listens to all patient history and concern. Great bedside manner, and knowledge."
"Dr. Courchesne is an extremely caring intelligent provider. My 7 year old has been her patient since she was born and loves her. Even though she only sees my daughter about once a year, she remembers her interactions and personality. She speaks directly to my daughter asking her specific questions about her eating habits, exercise, her likes and dislikes and encourages her to grow as a human being. We are blessed to have an extra competent health care provider in our valley! Thank you!"
