Reviews of East Cliff Apartments
"Ideal location, and that’s it. Package thieves and power outages. Don’t ship anything here. Ship it to the Amazon Locker across the street at 7-11 or to your office. If you have to ship it here, make sure you require a signature and are going to be home when it arrives. Stuff has been stolen as big as a Casper mattress to as small as an Amazon book. From the front or even from your doorstep. Your power will go out regularly. Have more than one thing on and turn on the microwave? And maybe in warmer weather with your AC unit on? You’ll probably lose power to your unit, so make sure you know where the circuit breakers are when you move in. Big storm? The whole building may go out. Come with a good flashlight and batteries. Good for a student at the U for a year or two or someone who works there as the buses are a block away, but the building is old and you’ll feel it’s age soon enough. Signs like these are on the front and back doors, so ask about how secure it is and how often they change the security code."
"I have lived here since October 2020, and I am really liking it so far. I'm in a 1-bedroom, 1-bath apartment that is smaller but a perfect size for me. Here are the pros and cons of East Cliff, in my opinion: PROS: -Location! If you're looking to be close to downtown SLC and be within walking or biking distance to shops and restaurants, then this is a great place. There is a 7-Eleven right across the street, which is great when you need to make a quick run for a snack or you're out of milk. Within a couple blocks, there's also an Even Stevens, Crown Burger, Free Wheeler pizza shop, Hamachi Sushi. -Plaster walls in the apartments make it so you can't hear your neighbors as much. I barely hear noise from adjacent apartments, so it's great if you're looking for an apartment without thin walls. -You can pay your rent and submit maintenance requests online, which is convenient. In the couple times I've submit maintenance requests, the techs have been quick to respond and fix the problem. This is a godsend compared to the last place I lived, where the landlord would either ignore calls/texts for maintenance or take several months to respond. CONS: -this building has radiators for heating, which might take some getting used to if you've never been in a radiator-heated apartment. The radiators do work well, in fact too well sometimes, where it will get really hot in the apartment and you will have to open the windows in the dead of winter. But that is a pretty common trait among radiators from what I've read. It's also harder to maintain the temperature to a specific degree, so if you're really picky about having the perfect temp all the time, it might be frustrating. The radiator can also be noisy sometimes with banging/hissing, but it's not super common. -while the plaster walls in the apartment are a good noise suppressant, for some reason the hall outside is pretty echo-y, so if there are people walking or talking out in the hall, you can hear it pretty well. -there are a few homeless people that roam around the bus stop by the 7-Eleven pretty regularly...which is not a bad thing in and of itself, but some of them will start screaming at the top of their lungs for like 10-15 minutes at a time, every couple days or so. Don't know if it's because they are mentally unstable or some other reason, but it gets annoying after a while. As long as you close your window, though, you probably won't hear the bulk of it."
