"A beautiful building but really the worst landlord I’ve ever had. Fredy is the worst communicator, processed almost everything late, and lied to me about communication with my roommate (she showed me the texts so that’s ridiculous). He’d also always try to communicate late and night on the weekend which was weird. Also added me as a friend on Facebook? My whole experience was chaotic and frustrating."
"I lived at the Commander apartments for 2 ½ years until early 2017. I lived in three separate apartments during that time, and absolutely loved living there. The building has gorgeous architecture and the apartments are beautiful, stylish and spacious. They are complete with large wood floored rooms, high ceilings and updated kitchens. It is located in a great location on the east bench very close to the University of Utah, and provides privacy while also being in a prime location. Julie, the apartment landlord, is great to work with. She lives on site and really puts her heart into managing the complex. She is always available, friendly and genuinely cares about making the Commander apartments a great place to live for all. After a snowstorm she is out early snow blowing in front of the garages and parking areas. In the summer she is out working on landscaping the gorgeous grounds. In my opinion she has been mischaracterized in some of the reviews left below. She works very hard and wants the tenants to be happy living there. She was reasonable and approachable anytime I had concerns. The atmosphere is great and all the tenants were respectful and nice. I highly recommend checking out the Commander apartments if you are looking for an apartment in this area!"
"My husband and I lived at the Commander Apartments, and had an excellent experience there. The apartment was gorgeous, the location couldn't be better for commuting to the U or downtown, and Julie was incredibly responsive whenever we called her. There certainly are some strict guidelines that tenants are asked to abide by, but in my opinion these guidelines help to keep the apartments and buildings in as superb shape as they are. We lived in the apartment next to Julie and only had very positive interactions."
"Three of my children were attending the University of Utah at the same time and we were very fortunate to find a beautiful 3 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment at the Commander. The location is amazing for anyone that is associated with the university - it is practically on campus. The apartments and grounds are very well cared for and the manager, Julie is wonderful. She is very responsive and genuinely cares for the tenants. She truly goes above and beyond. When 2 of my children graduated and moved out at the end of the first year, Julie went out of her way to help the remaining sibling move into a smaller apartment in the Commander. As the mom of 3 college age kids, I felt very comfortable knowing that Julie is there on site and can take care of pretty much anything."
"The apartments are beautiful! Don't be alarmed by other reviews about the property manager, she is very kind if you are kind to her. She works extremely hard to keep the property and the apartments looking the way they do, and she takes great pride in her job there. As for the comments others are making about the lease, yes. There is a long addendum with lots of items that seem unreasonable and outside of the norm for that type of document. However, very few of those items (if any) were actually any issue at all for me while I lived there. I think they are there because the property owners have been burned before, just in case. Not because they actively try to make the lives of their tenants difficult. Once the property manager warmed up to us (me and my two roommates), it was a very pleasant experience, and she was very timely and efficient in getting things repaired when needed. However, it did take us a while to earn her trust, which meant for some uncomfortable interactions at the beginning. I lived in an apartment at Commander Apartments for 2 years, and it was a great location with great views, with kind neighbors, and a hardworking property manager. Knowing what I know now, I wouldn't hesitate to live there again if I were to move back to SLC. I miss it all the time!"
