"Ceramic Supply used to be the best studio in Salt Lake. The prices were super low ($12 for open studio with clay and two firings included!), the people were all welcoming, and the quality of finished pieces was great. I understand prices having to increase but it now costs $60-$80 for the same studio time, clay, and firings. Considering the last glaze firing absolutely wrecked several of my pieces I don't think the price increase has come with any studio improvements at all. I'm sad to see the studio almost empty on a Saturday afternoon when it used to be packed at this time. Hopefully Jeremy can right the ship and get back to some of the ways that made this studio great."
"Update: Adjusting to five star. Though the customer experience initially was tough, it is absolutely worth trying to go in and talk with Jeremy and his staff. They place service first for those who are physically at the studio and on site factory. Let them know about their phone - they'll look into it and get it back online. Old review: Phone is disconnected, no responses by email after purchasing $400 worth of supplies online. Looks like the business is still running but expect little to no service if you try to engage without physically going to their studio. Poor customer experience. Buyer beware. May have to file a charge back and look to a ceramic supply org out of state for raw glaze materials."
"Great Experience. We went in knowing almost nothing about pottery on wheel and came out feeling like we could come back and do it on our own. Bella was a fantastic teacher, who genuinely wanted to teach us so we could come back and feel confident without a teacher. She led us through a great lesson then let us practice on our own with her answering our occasional questions. We were able to stay and do a few more pieces. Afterwards we picked one to glaze and be fired as part of our class fee. We loved it and would do it again...and again...Thanks for the great experience at a great price!"
"I am literally still just trying to get ahold of anyone who actually works here. I attended a class there a couple weeks ago and the lady who taught us was very nice and helpful. Besides her the rest of the experience isn’t a great one. The place has a very chill vibe almost a bit too chill to operate as an actual business. If you are an artist that is looking ver a very easy going studio then I think you would love this place. If you are a casual pottery maker just wanting to throw clay and then get a finished product then beware. The price was fair but attempting to make any sort of communication via phone or email is nearly impossible. You must be willing to just drive there and walk in to see what’s going on with the price you made during class. I have called twice a day every day since the class to try and make arrangements for our pieces to be glazed and fired. There is no VM set up and no one ever returns the missed call. I then found their email on the website so I tried that way. I did get one response asking for the name I left on my pieces and have since heard nothing after a couple follow ups. Since they have a rule that all unclaimed work will be recycled after one week I’m guessing our hard work has likely been tossed at this point. We were asked to leave our names and number in the piece so they could keep in touch with us. I’m addition to all this, I Purchased a gift card a few months before my intended visit and got a one time use document to print, no email copy gets sent. I could not find it by my own mistake and happened to be in Salt Lake so I stopped in. A worker there said that the would be able to find it for me no worries. I booked the class I attended a couple weeks back and paid full price online. Upon arriving I was told that they may not be able to find it and so I was just going to pay and not get refunded. So I’m conjunction with the above comments I also had to pay double for this one star experience."
"I’ve been buying my clay from pottery supply for over a year now and that experience has been okay. I recently started getting my pieces glaze fired here because my kiln has been having issues. Today I picked up my work and over half of my pieces had been over fired and had bubbled, warped, and had horrible chunks taken out of the base (no glaze had dripped). I also found out that I had been getting overcharged for the firings. They were charging me for both the bisque & glaze firing when I was only getting my pieces glaze fired here. Overall, not a good experience."
