"Cheesey room, only had bed, tv, and tv stand. Not even a trash can!! No shampoo all though soap was there. No phone Linen dirty, I give it 2 stars only because there were around 1000 tv channels!!"
"Owner is very polite and respectful. Had a leak in the restroom in one room and he offered to fix it or take a different room. We happily took a different room so he wouldn't be rushed to repair the leak as he was already busy. The rooms are nice and clean. Has a stove. Full size refrigerator and kitchen sink. A television with DirecTV. (all regular channels plus HBO. Not just a select few channels like at other places for the same price.) Great for extended stays. Great weekly rates for the room and amenities."
"Stayed here for a couple of weeks. Giving 1 star because it was very quiet. However, I left because I felt like they were slumlords and the whole place was very DIRTY! Also there are racist people that live there, who the manager "LOVES" having there! He said he will watch you to make sure you are "Alright." HE introduced me to him and he literally looked at me like I was SCUM and turned his head the other way and put his nose in the air! Then he told his wife she met such and such. She shot him a dirty look basically saying why would you introduce her to him. Smh! All that money I was paying weekly my stove should have worked. I told the manager cousin my stove didnt work he said, "oh we will put it on the list." I said okay approximately how long until its fixed. He said nonchalantly "about 3 weeks." Oh really thats acceptable when people pay weekly rent. I go to the office and was like oh are you guys going to give me a discount for 3 weeks. Then she sends her husband to knock on my door at 10 pm at night to say they will have someone look at it next week tuesday. Which would have been about another whole week. The following tuesday I call and ask did you guys fix it. The manager says yeah we fpund out what was wrong. We ordered the part it will be here in 7 days. At that point im like okay im just going to leave. So then magically 3 days later he like oh i put in another stove in there I bought a brand new one. IT WAS THE EXACT SAME ONE! When I called him on it he says oh I bought a new one took the part off the new one and put it on the old one. Smh! Which means they were literally playing games the whole time. Also I had to put a garbage bag up to my window in the bathroom because there is a house next door and they can see right through the bathroom window if they wanted too. The rug was sooo DIRTY soiled and stained. I usually walked in slippers but in the middle of the night i had to use the restroom and walk across that floor just that one time. MY FEET ITCHED FOR THE WHOLE TIME I WAS THERE. The walls where filthy behind the toilet. If it was $200 a week I wouldnt have minded "making due" and cleaning but $327 a week PLEASE that place should have been CLEAN!!!"
"I was in between homes for about 2 years during which time I stayed in several hotels in the downtown Salt Lake City area and one of my favorites is the Spiking Tourist Lodge. It is not even in the same class as the other small State Street motels. It is always clean and quiet. The staff are always friendly and helpful. There's no drama to deal with unlike other motels in the area. At this motel you could feel safe bringing your children for a family stay or if privacy and indiscretion is what your looking for you will find that at the Spiking. I give it 5 thumbs up."
"I stayed here for about a week in early April. For the most part, it was comfortable, quiet, and conveniently located about half a block from a grocery store. It was the cheapest motel in town at $176.00 per week. The Wi Fi didn't work because their network is only designed to work with the 'N' band instead of 802.11 g/b. Cheap laundry facilities that are available 24/7, and well maintained. The whole hotel was fairly smoke free. They did have mental fruitcakes that checked including a next door neighbor, who slammed every door he opened, I think he might have been mentally disturbed. So I checked out and went to a quieter and more secure hotel. Overall though, it's the best of the cheap motels on state street. I would defiantly use this motel as an over night stay again. Just bring some ear plugs. Friendly and helpful stay. I believe it is family owned and operated."
