Reviews of Almo Inn
"We stayed here for 2 nights in Sept 2023. The location is simply excellent! Incredibly convenient for visiting the City of Rocks and Castle Rock State Park. The room is new and updated with enough appliances to be really comfortable. There is no TV but that does not bother us. There is a restaurant on site with good food/drink options. The whole place is dog friendly and the restaurant has a dog friendly patio so we had a great time here. Highly recommend this place if you are visits the City or Castle Rock State Park."
"I stayed in Silverton #8, and it's a $400-a-night room for $145. Honestly, one of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever enjoyed. It's furnished and decorated in a rustic style, but in a way that makes it feel posh and new. The furniture is comfortable, the bed is wide and easy to lose yourself in, and the bathtub is enormous (and jetted). There's no TV or radio in the room, which I feel is very appropriate for the setting of nearby City of Rocks and Castle Rocks. The Steak House is one of the only eating establishments for many miles around, and I think they are finding their rhythm. My group of nine were visiting on a Wednesday night and I think that was far enough outside the Inn's normal load that they actually ran out of potatoes (in Idaho!) and not everybody got what they wanted; but I think their food supply truck shows up on Fridays to help them stock up for the weekend, when they see the most visitors, so I am willing to cut them some slack. Granted, this is one of the only places to stay for many miles around City of Rocks; but instead of giving you a substandard experience for an outrageous price, which they could do given the lack of competition, the management of the Inn offer a first rate stay at a real bargain price."
"Stayed here in late August and it was just lovely. A real oasis when there wasn't much close by. I got to stay in one of the cabins and it was just perfect. Cozy bed with a huge bathroom. I never saw the owners but the check-in was a breeze. The most convenient thing was the restaurant next door. Able to sit on my porch with a coffee I made for the machine in the room and enjoy the stars. If you're into exploring City of Rocks, this is definitely the place to stay."
"We enjoyed our stay at the Almo Inn! We stayed in the Virginia, room 9. It was clean, cute, and spacious for our family of 4. Great place to stay if you’re visiting the City of Rocks! There is also a good restaurant across the parking lot called Outpost Steakhouse. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here!"
"Not what I expected - in a good way! I travel countless backroad, past-their-prime motels all over the Western states (off-road motorcycle riding). The usual places I stay are long forgotten and in ill-repair and usually in the $30-$60 range. So when I booked at the Almo Inn I was a bit taken back by the price but... When I arrived I was very pleasantly surprised by the nature of the outside of the hotel - clearly a quality building and great landscaping, etc. Upon entering my room I was taken back - it was large and very nicely done. A huge shower/jetted bath combo. A nice kitchenette, table and separate sitting area. The room was very clean and charming with real wood interior and furniture. While the kitchenette offers a microwave and larger refrigerator and freezer, there are signs that say no cooking (I didn't need to cook). All in all, the motel and room was excellent and the very nearby (200' away) steakhouse was convenient and excellent too (I left a separate review). My only minor complaint is contacting the manager is a bit difficult (call, lave a message and wait for a callback) - this worked out but I could see it being a problem if cell service was limited, etc. like it was for my friend's phone. Highly recommended!"
