Reviews of Brooker's Founding Flavors Ice Cream, Saratoga Springs UT
"Do not waste your time. When I walked in I was wondering why it was so empty. Only 1 table was full and no one else. But after I ordered and paid I realized why it was empty. Though my intentions were good I do regret it. I was picking up a soda from swig for my wife who wasn’t feeling well. After I saw the ice cream parlor and thought about getting some ice cream which always makes someone feel better. The gal at the counter who helped me wasn’t very helpful. Kinda of rude and acted like I was bothering her with the questions I asked. We had never been there before. I looked at the pricing of cones and 1,2 or 3 scoops and thought it wasn’t bad. But after ordering 2 scoops of ice cream on a waffle cone, scoops were chocolate and strawberry. Then asked for a single scoop of butterfinger in a cone for my wife I then tried to tell the employees it was supposed to be in a waffle cone she completely ignored me. I told her twice and the second time even raised my voice incase she didn’t hear me. But let it go and went to pay. So for my two scoops of ice cream in a waffle cone and then my single scoop of butterfinger my total was $14.75. I asked her if she rang it up correct and she said yes. I told her it didn’t match what I saw on the board and she explained the ice cream I ordered was a specialty ice cream. The menu nor the label on the window for the name of the ice cream said anything about it being special. I paid almost $15 for 3 scoops of ice cream that didn’t even taste that good. How they were voted best ice cream in Utah valley is beyond me. When I asked the girl to break down the pricing she said the waffle cone and two scoops as $6.50 and the single scoop of butterfinger which taste nothing like butterfinger and was really gross cost me $7. I was appalled. I am all for supporting local businesses but this is ridiculous. Go to Handles or Leatherbys. Amazing prices and way better tasting as well. The worst part was that they had 3 gals working there at the time. And rather than cleaning up or helping out they were all standing there laughing and gossiping about their uniforms and how their hair looked. This was when I can in and once the gal rang up my total she immediately left to go back and joined the conversation. I finished my transaction and asked for a receipt but they couldn’t hear me and at this point I was done and left. I always try to call the store and speak to a manager before leaving a bad review. But no manager on site and never got a call back. So I’m leaving a review. I’m sure they will see this and respond but poorly run store. Poorly viable Pricing as well and poor service. Not sure if it’s just this location. But be careful. Attached photo is the $7 scoop of ice cream. I even tried joking with her to make light of my frustration by saying it better have gold in it for that price but that was when she turned the screen for me to complete my payment and walked back to join the others in the conversation about their hair and uniforms. So sad. I was really excited to try this place."
"This place is the best! It’s the most creative menu I’ve ever seen and the best I’ve cream ever. I love the Marion Antoinette let them eat red velvet cake. We live out of state and this just became a regular stop for us whenever we visit. Even the workers were dressed up in colonial costumes! I feel like we went to a theme park restaurant. Highly recommend!"
"I’m *soooo* glad these guys finally opened! Cold stone is good, Handels is great, but this is the BEST! They have the best darn hot chocolate I’ve ever tasted. I seriously get the Pennsylvania and it lasts me a week, each gulp is a chocolate paradise. Someone has got to get more hazelnut hot chocolate in- they are constantly out and I’ve always wanted to try it! The employees are so sweet, I’ve never met a crotchety one! They make eye contact, smile, and help you decide on the right flavor for you. There’s some really fun, interesting flavors!"
"I just tried this new place, here are my thoughts: Pros: The themes are fun and they did a great job on decorations, meal options and the employee outfits. I love that they offer a larger hot chocolate menu, I can't wait to try that in the winter. This place also has THE LARGEST SEATING AREA. For some reason ice cream places like Handel's and cold stone have little to no seating areas. Brookers has plenty of tables which makes it a great option for group dates or families!!! The menu is so detailed, it takes a good ten minutes to read and understand it all, that's okay though since you have time in line. Employees were kind and quick to serve the other line of people. Cons: The ice cream felt less creamy, more icy than Handel's to me. The mix ins were so large that they weren't incorporated into the flavors well. For example I got the John Adams, which has chucks of butter cake in a cream cheese ice cream, tasted great but I had one large chuck of frozen cake in my scoop. The same thing happened with my Abigail Adams that featured a crispy cookie in the ice cream. There was one t we o inch piece of cookie, and that was it. I hope in the future they chopped the mix ins smaller."
"The ice c am is so good. The employees are great too. We went in with our kids and they were patient with them. They let them have a couple samples and helped them decide which flavor they got. I tried one of the Sundays. So much ice cream in the Sundays and the toppings were an excellent addition. The tables were clean and the dining area was well taken care of. We will be going back for sure!"
