Reviews of Sundial Lodge
"I have mixed feelings about my experience staying here. They covered the basic needs of a hotel, which is the plus side; we all had beds, and there was a decent amount of space in our room. This is also a really convenient place to stay for a competitive skier since it is right on the mountain. The process of leaving my room and getting on the chair lift was very quick. I also like the general area as there are plenty of stores (overpriced of course) around the area of this hotel making it quite convenient. I know most hotels should have this, but they have ice machines for guests which is a plus! I say this because these days I am noticing more places that just don’t have these machines around. The fact we had a washing machine in our room was a huge plus because we did not need to worry about shortage of clean gear. One thing that disappointed me is the lack of housekeeping. I am not sure if this is the reason as to why they do not have housekeeping, but the COVID excuses are over. I have been back in the office full time for a few years now and if I could do that, you all can do what regular hotels do which is have the rooms cleaned daily. The price is too high for them not to have this service. Also, it is a ski mountain so I could not creatively think of a more convenient vacation scenario to have housekeeping than this. People are out most of the day on the trails, this is pretty much a housekeepers dream. After the trails, people utilize the hot tub, this place is screaming for logical housekeeping. It was cool that they had people bring us our ski rentals, but if they can do that they can have people clean our rooms. Take my word covid does not discriminate and only spread when people are cleaning vs when they are setting up skis in a room. Again, I do not know their excuse for lacking this, but if it is COVID, absolutely ridiculous. I am leaving that open because I really do not know. Try me with any other excuse, and I bet it does not pass the logical test (my party agreed). Speaking of ridiculous rules, I am sure you know what I am going to say next if you have been here, but I will point out the obvious. Seriously? No wearing Ski boots allowed in the hotel? On a Ski mountain? I have been to countless mountains and have skied for over two decades and no hotel or lodge I have been to has ever had this rule. I am talking about Utah, Colorado, Switzerland, Canada, Vermont, never seen this for obvious reasons. You expect people to walk around in ski boots if it is a ski mountain hotel. This is like having a baseball field and a rule is no wearing cleats in the dugout. I will tell you guys directly; I am not walking down with my boots in hand and putting them on when getting outside. I am also not wearing my shoes and carrying the boots just so I have to worry about locking up my shoes or give them to ski check (not sure if they even do that, but I noticed they do take boots overnight). It is not happening. I would be more likely to ski with no shirt in the freezing cold. I have eyes, I have the ability to speak, and I noticed other guests were not following this rule. I even spoke to a few who laughed at the sign. I think it is time to rethink this policy and I would genuinely be interested to speak with the person who thought of this. If I had a dollar for every person in there I saw wearing ski boots, I would probably have been able to stay an extra day. There is having a dumb rule, and having a rule people just do not follow; this rule covers both categories. Overall as said, they covered a lot of the basics in what I want in a hotel, but their lack of housekeeping and the weird rule put a damper on the experience. I did not use the pool area, but my friends who did said it was very nice and I will take their word. Definitely have stayed in worse places, but I would rate this around average in comparison with other hotels"
"I would, definitely, come back to this place. Except, location and great stuff, nothing gave a me a great impression. Rooms small and not renovated for a long time. Our room had TV, small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker ( really outdated), bed , reclining broken sofa. No room service. Fresh towels need to be requested, trash supposed to be taken by ourselves. It is feeling , that owners just renting their room to ski lovers. No feeling of hotel here. No breakfast place, no restaurant on a property. Next time, we would stay in a different place!"
"Let me just say that the location of this hotel is perfect and that is probably what you're paying for, but the rooms are tiny, old smelling, and are in dire need of renovations. Also, not being able to get ready in ski boots in your room defeats the luxury of "ski-in-ski-out". I still got ready in the car because I didn't trust my belongings in the ski locker. Parking is $25/day so be sure to figure that in. Not sure if I'd stay here again or find a hotel that had bigger more modern rooms. Overall great stay."
"IN RESPONSE TO THE REVIEW WE WROTE (BELOW) THE OWNERS WROTE THAT THEY HAD SYMPATHY FOR OUR SITUATION. IF THEY HAD SYMPATHY, THEY WOULD DO THE RIGHT THING AND PROVIDE A REFUND. LIPSERVCE AT ITS BEST. AGAIN, SHAME ON YOU SUNDIAL LODGE!!!!! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS LODGE! Their payment policies are unreasonable and intractable. Further, it took five attempts to reach a supervisor to discuss the below-issue. My wife was involved in a serious ski accident in Colorado six weeks before our planned trip to UT. We never contemplated travel insurance as we were excited for the trip and did not foresee any impediment to traveling. We made it clear that this medical situation made it impossible for us to ski in UT in March. In spite of the six-week advance notice, this Lodge will charge us TWENTY PERCENT of our total stay for absolutely no reason other than sheer greed. We attempted to negotiate a rescheduling for this summer or next year, and they were immovable. This is the type of poor business practice that is reflective of zero customer service and 100% greed on behalf of the owners. It is more than likely they will re-rent the unit during Spring Break and make even more money. Unconscionable. We will never, ever support this property or any other All Seasons Resort Lodging property. You should be ashamed of yourselves for your lack of care and rapacious behavior."
"Front desk service was outstanding. We left urgently for the airport and forgot our skis out front. Sladjana identified our skis, made sure they were safe, and helped facilitate shipping them to our final destination. A huge relief. We didn't stay at Sundial initially, but will be planning to stay there in the future!"
