"I have used these people twice and it didn't appear that they actually service doors, rather they find a provider and collect a fee for finding someone, its usually the same day you call. The first time I took advantage of their 39.99 tune-up and lube. Within a month one of the cables got tangled keeping the door from closing on one side. So I call them again, and they tell me that a repairman will be out there that afternoon, but he didn't show-up until after 6:30 when I am at a holiday dinner with friends (it was the week before Christmas) so he calls after he has decided that it can be repaired on this trip and gives me a price of $650. Well at that point I didn't realize that it was just a alignment problem (probable caused by the first guy) and I wasn't wanting to hassle about being overcharged (but I should have) sent him away because after it was fixed, he proceeded to tell (not in person, but over the phone) that it wasn't all that serious and he kind of apologized for the overcharge but said it wasn't his decision. Bottom line I paid what most charge for a whole door install, and not a tangled cable that should have been $200 or less. In my mind it was a rip-off."

My door was making strange noises, and the Technician, TJ, was here right on time. He was extremely polite, professional, and respectful of my property. He did a complete inspection, cleaned and lubricated moving parts, and never mentioned trying to sell me something I did not need. "I used Neighborhood Garage Repair (also known as Precise Garage/Garage Repair, they have several aliases) for a garage spring replacement. Their service fee is $39, and was said to be absorbed by the company if services are done. After some research, I concluded that having the springs replaced would be anywhere from $150-350. Shaun quoted me an estimate that was over $600. I politely declined, and he came down $50. I needed him to come down to the average cost of repairs, or at least close, but he kept talking about my springs being larger than normal, and the installation being done right- a lot of it didn’t make sense or reflect what I had researched about my exact springs. I even called my normal handyman (who is out of town) to ask him what an average rate would be, and he told me less than 300. I was able to get Shaun to $500; still over average price, but I factored in my own urgency to have it repaired (my vehicle was stuck in my garage), and the fact that they came out promptly and on a weekend. The repair was done quickly, and the quality of work appears to have been done well. If they would have come down on the price, to at least the average cost of repairs, I would be referring them to everyone in need of garage repairs, but I won’t refer any company that makes up their own prices to get more from residential home owners. I shouldn’t have to fight and negotiate to pay the average price."
