"Doctor seems nice at first but just wants his money. As a former Ortho assistant I'm appalled at how doctor Payne is so arrogant and won't fix mistakes. I would not come here if you want quality treatment."

"I'm a 34 year old who just got my braces off today. The assistants and front desk staff are all very friendly and generally do a good job. I had a few minor issues with one assistant but they were very reasonable about that. I'm leaving unhappy because Dr. Payne didn't realize how slanted my bottom midline was before removing my braces. We'd discussed it multiple times before, and he told me he'd do the best he could because my jaw was straight. I completely understood and appreciated where he was coming from. But when my braces were off I could see that it was much worse than I realized. When I told him I thought it could be better he immediately retorted that I should have told him I wanted them straighter before they were taken off. Of course I said that it's his job to make sure my teeth were straight. Not mine. He said at the time he thought it looked good and I said maybe its because you're in a rush to get to the ten other patients you have here for one Orthodontist. If he had told me he'd done his best and there was nothing else to do I would've walked away slightly bummed but happy with Payne Orthodontics. Instead, I feel like Dr. Payne is trying to gouge me. He said it would be an additional two thousand dollars just to come back in and work on ONLY THE BOTTOM ROW until we knew it couldn't get any better. From my perspective, he didn't do his job the best he could have and instead of correcting his mistake he's trying to make more money off me. I'm a very reasonable guy. That's why I'm putting two stars instead of one. But if you're deciding where to get your kids braces done or even your own just be aware that you should voice all of your concerns at the beginning of every single visit or they might not be resolved. Also know that Dr. Payne views taking off the braces as the end of his contract. Then he will charge you exorbitantly for any additional tweak, even if he missed something. I'm sad it ended this way but if my teeth aren't as straight as they can be then what's the point here? Update: Four days after my braces came off. Since day one my top retainer has been cutting into my gums and making them bleed every time I eat, brush my teeth, or put the retainer on. Had to drive up to South Jordon so they could trim off the top third of the retainer that apparently wasn't supposed to be there. Happy it was a relatively easy fix. But just another example of how quality care wasn't a priority. They should've had me put them on there in the office and made sure they fit. Instead my mouth is shredded and I'm even more annoyed than before."

"There’s a discount if you pay in full, but DON’T do it! I paid in full and now we are trapped. These people do not care about the patients or the families. They just want to sign up as many patients as possible with no regard to their ability to provide care. They stay so overbooked that it’s impossible to get an appointment for weeks and weeks, sometimes months. Don’t be fooled by their many “convenient” locations. Each location is open for just one or two days a week. Because it’s so hard to get on the schedule, I end up driving all over Utah Valley because sometimes the only appointment I can get is far away."
