Founded by Dr. Thomas Carey and Carol Brice Carey, the institution has a rich history dating back to 1975. The founders created Cimarron Opera to provide opportunities for Black artists during a time of racial segregation in Norman. Today, the institution continues to uphold their legacy by promoting justice, compassion, and equality for all. Through the power of art, Cimarron Opera aims to drive positive change and provide cultural enrichment and education to audiences across the state and beyond.
