Reviews of Penn Station Apartment Homes
"I've got quite a few things to say about this place so bear with me, because it will be long. I have been a tenant here for 2 years now, and during that entire time, I have yet to find a single nice thing to say about this place. Albeit it's been a while since we've had any water issues, I still have a STRONG feeling the pools and many water based issues wont work this summer just like the last. I said it in my last review on my other account that they responded with an automated reply, but the pools were a large selling point for this complex. Last summer they sent out 3 different emails stating the pools were open, and even day of for one of those emails my wife and I went to check and BOTH pools were closed, so if it's pools you're looking forward to then just take that out of your mind, because it's not happening. This place also had a fire that killed 2 tenants, and not a single email was sent out regarding the fire AT ALL! I had to hear it from my boss that it happened, and it doesn't even shock me it burnt down considering the faulty wiring this place has got going on. Water leaks underneath the floorboards in the bathroom and has created this warped wood look that they claim comes from water leaking out of the shower when we shower, but the bathroom in question is never used and is still bubbling underneath the wood. If you're in an updated unit, CONGRATS! If you're not then you know that the way they cover the wear and tear of the apartment is covering it with this gross off colored white that literally every door, cabinet, wall, and trim in the apartment. Another issue I have is they offer you a 24 hour notice before maintenance comes and fixes whatever your issue is, and not once have they called us to tell us they were coming. I work from home occasionally, and my wife is a nurse who works 3 on 4 off, and when maintenance barges in and for some reason opens our bedroom door where the work order isn't even remotely happening is INSANE to me. They also raised my rent when the property value of this place hasn't gone up whatsoever. If you're smart, you'd avoid this place like the plague."
"Don’t move here. You will be spending unnecessary money. They not on top of anything. They asked for money and don’t handle the major problems. And the worst thing ever that they don’t know anything. You asked them a question and they say “i don’t know” come back inn2hrs then you come back then they will look you dead in your eye and say “ we can’t do anything it is what it is”. Poor communication skills, poor management, poor maintenance Do not move to Penn Station Apartment Homes! They delete information off your lease without your consent. They give away your paid parking. They don’t ever fix anything! On top of everything, they don’t even give you the correct information when you move in, then blame you for not knowing. Over all this has been my worst and most unprofessional experience while dealing with apartments. It’s always something with them, and I’m so tired of it! Be cautious if you’re thinking about moving there."
"Penn station, where you and your family mean nothing to us. We will fish you in with "updated amenities" and if you ask about flooding we'll say we've had none. But it will infact flood 4 times in one year damaging all your stuff. Not worried about water? Well maybe the recent fire that destroyed 2 buildings and cost 2 lives on Oct 20th 2023. We're convinced that our electrical and structural is up to standard with us hiring "maintenance" that somehow know how to fix, or ignore, any problem they encounter. If you like false advertising then glance at the brochures which have no pictures of this property. For 1200/mo you can have a flooding, slap jobbed, moldy apartment to call your "home sweet hell" Don't even get me started on the upcharges for everything including but not limited to, trash that will make up excuses to take your bags, appliances that you pay for 4x over, water bills that skyrocket everytime they do line maintenance. (They expect you to pay for their lack of maintenance.) AVOID AT ALL COSTS. *last photo shows counters haven't been updated since 1979 when they were installed.*"
"If I could rate this place lower than 1 star I would. First off the ridiculousness of the water being shut off for no reason at all without warning is a joke. The water quality itself is worse than what's in Chernobyl, but it's constantly turned off and with kids we can't afford to not do laundry for days on end. The front office never gets back to you with any issues you have, when they do they belittle you and tenant blame constantly. Maintenance takes forever and a day to do anything. My wife is a nurse and sleeps during the day and they'll just walk in without knocking or a phone call letting us know they're coming over. Our apartment flooded in the guest bathroom and there's clear mold under the tile floors and floorboards. We've requested for it to be inspected by them and they never do instead they change our work order from pending to completed without doing any work. Stay very clear from this place. You're better off sleeping in your car than staying here. We are leaving as soon as we can when our lease is up and won't be back nor recommending anyone come stay here."
"This is a long one so buckle up. Since I’ve moved in here I have yet to have anything nice to say about this complex. First, the trash sergeants. They’re lazy, and inconsistent. The amount of times I’ve had 1 single bag on my porch, and they don’t take and leave me some note saying it was too heavy is ridiculous. Maybe it’s because they use literal children to pick up trash? I mean I even weighed one of my bags once and they claim they don’t do over 25 pounds but the bag I had was 9 pounds, yet they still complained it was too heavy. We shouldn’t have to pay for it if we don’t want to but I figure it’s another way for this complex to extort money out of its tenants. Second, the water/pool situation. This place claims it has 2 working pools, and used it as a selling point to my wife and I when we moved in, but this last summer the pools were down for the majority of it. They even sent out an email once saying they were open but when my wife and I walked up both pools were empty and disgusting. The water situation itself is wild, because even today we’ve been without water since Friday, and it’s Sunday. Nevermind the fact that people work, and have to shower, and clean their clothes. This isn’t just a one time thing either, I’ve gotten 8 emails over the last 6 months about the water lines being messed up. Third, maintenance. This is a huge issue, because they ask if you would like a 24 hour notice for when maintenance is supposed to show up and not a single time have they honored that. They one time pounded on the door while my wife was asleep, and for some reason opened the door to our room that she was asleep in for some reason?? Very unprofessional. EDIT: Didn’t think I’d have to add to this, but we put in a work order to fix our AC a couple days ago, and put in the order description, “Please give us 24 hours notice before arriving. They just completely ignored that and my wife said he was just standing in the living room yelling, “Maintenance!” Over and over. At least they didn’t walk into our room again where the order wasn’t happening."
