"Was scheduled with them by my home warranty. I took a couple days to get my appointment, then had to reschedule because of inclement weather (not their fault). Since this was my first time using my home warranty and I read read a lot of negative comments online about American Home Shield ripping people off, I was worried I was going to end up shelling out a lot of cash. The technician was very friendly and professional and had my unit working in 30 minutes. Luckily my issue was covered by the program. I would definitely use them again."
"Technical service was OK, but overall customer service and scheduling was terrible. I engaged them through my home warranty service on a Tuesday when my heating system broke. We lost a day because the home warranty people gave them my office phone number and I don't check voice mail often. Scheduling windows are of course four hours wide, so I had to take a Thursday afternoon off work to meet the technician. The problem was diagnosed and parts were ordered, but I had to wait through the weekend until Monday. Parts were installed Monday, after another afternoon home from work, and the system came up and worked. I came back from errands Monday night to find the system dead again, presuming that a defective part had been installed. I called them Tuesday morning, of course, but was told they couldn't come out until Wednesday (yet another half day off from work). Wednesday morning they called to tell me that their one and only technician was called away on an emergency and they couldn't come out until the following Monday (this was the Wednesday before Thanksgiving). At that point, I had been without heat for over a week and was looking at two weeks, including through Thanksgiving that I was hosting. All I got was a mild apology; No acknowledgement that I'd been down for over a week, or that they were leaving me hanging for Thanksgiving, or that I was still down likely because they had installed faulty parts, or that I'd already taken 1.5 days off. I asked if they could get someone else from a partner company or competitor. I got another mild apology and a recommendation to call my warranty company for another assignment. I did that and was fortunate enough to get the right CSR at the warranty company who didn't make me start all over. They got an expedited request to All Comfort Solutions. All Comfort was there 45 minutes after I hung up the phone. Their tech immediately found the faulty transformer that Second Opinion installed, went and got another one, and had me back up before lunch. I don't blame Second Opinion for a faulty part or for their tech having an emergency, but they are entirely to blame for abandoning me. For one, you can't run a heat and air business with only one technician. For another, as soon as they heard that my system was down again, they should have been back immediately; even if it required overtime. Instead, without any sense of urgency, they just kept scheduling me for the next available time slot. It is clear to me that they simply didn't care."
"Had to wait 3 days to get my A/C looked at(some time between 9am and 3pm) , they said it was completely shot. New compressor would be $2500 but I should go for the limited time special for only $7200 ... Called another company before signing my first born away and turns out it was a $60 part that needed to be replaced. 2 years ago I used this company and they did a great job. I'm glad I got a second opinion from someone other than Second Opinion."
"I unfortuantely had a very dishonest and unnerving experience with this company. About a month ago I scheduled an appointment through our home warranty company (American Home Shield), who sent Second Opinion to service our outdoor air conditioning unit. The initial problem was that the indoor air handler was pushing air, but the outdoor unit was not running. The technician that came was extremely rude and belittling to my wife, and during his whole visit he was constantly pushing a "new system" on her. We had a different company service the unit less than a year ago and nothing was said about replacing the outdoor AC unit. Nevertheless, the technician finished and the system seemed to run fine. About a month later, we began to have the same problem - the indoor air handler was pushing air while the outdoor unit was not running. I scheduled another appointment thought our home warranty, and since it was within 60 days of the last visit it was considered a "recall" and the same company had to come out to fix their mistake. I spoke with Second Opinion and explained that the same problem was occurring, and that I wanted a different technician since the previous one was rude to my wife and clearly did not fix the issue. We scheduled an appointment for the following day (which I cancelled an out-of-town trip to make sure I was here for), and not two hours later they called back and said they had double-booked the appointment. Obviously frustrated, I told them that I had moved plans to work around their schedule and now I had cancelled a trip for nothing. Sensing my frustration, the secretary handed the phone to the "senior technician," who happened to be the one that had attempted to fix our AC unit the first time. He then (very rudely) berated me for insulating that he had done a poor job, and tried to tell me that the problems with our AC unit were completely different then when he first came out. When trying to explain that the initial "symptoms" were the same, he continued to argue with me, and also claimed that he was in no way rude to my wife and that I was being extremely disrespectful. After trying to explain that I was simply presenting the information that was told to me, he continued to yell at me and then promptly hung up the phone. So, not only did he confirm his rudeness, he made it abundantly clear that I should ever contact him ever again. Thankfully Americn Home Shield (our Home Warranty company) was able to transfer the order, and even reschedule the appointment for the same time as the original appointment with Second Opinion. While this may have been a very isolated incident, I encourage anyone considering using this company to direct their business elsewhere."
"We called Second Opinion on recommendation of our home warranty service. The receptionist was exceptionally polite and did everything she could to get a tech out to us in a timely manner. The tech was very knowledgeable; not only did he fix our heating problem he also took the time to show me where our air filter was installed, and changed it for me even though that was not on his work order. I would certainly call this company again."
