Reviews of Toyota Service Department - Performance Toyota Bountiful
"This is the first time I have taken my truck here. I made an appointment. Was early dropping off and the advisor said it would be a couple hours. I left and came back an hour and a half later. Waited 10 minutes for the advisor to come around. Asked him what the status was and he lied to my face. He said they were still working on it. I then called him out because I noticed that my truck hadn’t moved from the parking lot. He then scrambled and said “well yeah they haven’t started working on it yet”. Only reason I came here is because I have had bad experiences at a different dealership. I will never bring it back here. Lying to customers is unacceptable. I’m honestly to the point where I’m going to get rid of my tundra just so I don’t have to deal with Toyota services anymore. It’s been nothing but a nightmare at every location I’ve been to."
"I brought my car in on Saturday two weeks ago to get the battery checked. While I was dropping it off I decided to get the regular maintenance done while it was there. They were great about taking my car in for that maintenance on a Saturday when I didn't even have an appointment, unfortunately, that's the only positive thing I can say about the service experience. They got the regular maintenance done within a few hours and called me to tell me the battery was bad and needed to be replaced. I authorized the replacement (for nearly $300, sheesh) and was told my car would be ready to be picked-up in an hour. They called me back an hour later to inform me that they thought they had the battery in-stock but had found out they actually didn't (okay, why didn't they check that beforehand?). No big deal though, they said they would get back to me on Monday with an update. Monday came and went and I never heard anything from them despite reaching out twice myself. On Tuesday, I heard back from the service advisor who apologized for not getting back to me on Monday because they were out sick. I understand people being out sick, but why didn't another service advisor check-in on the sick advisor's customers? That's a process fail by the service department; customers can't just be ignored for days because the advisor they were assigned to misses work. Just like any business ever, if an employee is out, someone else needs to pickup their work while they're gone. On Tuesday, the advisor informed me they didn't get the battery in that day as expected. Another day went by until I was informed on Wednesday that the battery was actually backordered so they wouldn't be getting it in anytime soon. At this point they have had my car for four days and are just now informing me that the battery is backordered and isn't even coming in. There's a major inventory tracking issue going on if it takes four days to figure out that a certain part is backordered while a customer has been without their car the entire time. To add insult to injury, the advisor was not sympathetic or apologetic about it. It's like they've never considered that their customers might actually, ya know, need their cars back in a timely manner. They offered an alternate battery at an extra $100 cost. I told them I would take it if they would price-match it to the original battery they quoted me for but they wouldn't do that either. So then I just asked them to bring the car back to my house (via their valet service) and I'd find a battery elsewhere. They took an additional day after that before they brought the car back, making it a total of five business days (six days total) they had my car. And all that was accomplished during that time was the regular maintenance they had done in the first few hours. Bad inventory management and terrible communication led to them keeping my car for five extra days for no reason. When they dropped my car off I wasn't home so they had to leave the car in the driveway and keys on the porch. I have no issues with that but I have a major issue with them leaving the car unlocked when they parked it in the driveway. I was out of town so my car was sitting in the driveway unlocked for two days, just in case the friendly neighborhood thieves wanted an easy target. It makes me wonder if they also leave their customer's cars unlocked while they're sitting in the lot at the service department. When I opened the car, they had left the dirty grease mat and plastic wrap in the car. I obviously understand why they use those during the service, but why would they leave them in the car when dropping it off? Do they think that's what a customer wants to see when they get their freshly serviced car back, to open it up and have dirty paper and plastic all over? They had also taken a package of car wipes out of the glove box and left them on the floor. There is zero reason they should have ever been in the glove box to begin with! It just blows me away how bad the overall service experience was and the lack of basic competency in several areas."
"This is the best dealership service department (and dealership in general) that I’ve ever worked with. I had so many questions on my repair and they didn’t hesitate to make sure I had everything answered, however silly the question or however many times I asked. Brittani and Emily were top notch and I never once felt rushed or unimportant. Thank you!"
"I have recently had a series of disappointing encounters with the service department at Bountiful Toyota, and I feel compelled to share my frustration and dissatisfaction. As a loyal customer who has purchased three brand new cars, each accompanied by extended warranties and maintenance packages, I expected a level of service that aligned with the premium I paid for these added benefits. Unfortunately, my experience has been far from satisfactory. One of the major issues I've encountered is the reluctance of the service department to effectively diagnose and address problems with my vehicles. On multiple occasions, when I brought my car in with a specific issue, the response from the staff has been either a denial of the problem's existence or an upfront charge of $160 just to determine if they can identify the issue. Even if the concern is an error message that is being sent to me by Toyota. This fee is applied regardless of whether it leads to a repair or not, leaving me questioning the purpose of investing thousands of dollars in maintenance and warranty packages. The frustration deepens when dealing with the service representatives, who not only exhibit a lack of empathy but also resort to condescending behavior. Instead of providing assistance, they choose to lecture customers on the mechanics' payroll and make dismissive comments like "we're not responsible for your car's maintenance; it's your car!" Such statements are not only unhelpful but also contradict the very essence of the service packages I purchased – the expectation that the dealership would actively engage in maintaining and addressing issues with my vehicle. The overall experience at Bountiful Toyota's service department has left me questioning the value of the extended warranties and maintenance packages. The rude and unhelpful attitude of the service reps, coupled with the seemingly arbitrary diagnostic charges, have eroded the trust and confidence I initially placed in the dealership. As a customer who invested in brand new vehicles with the expectation of reliable service, I am disheartened by the lack of accountability and customer-centric approach exhibited by the service department at Bountiful Toyota."
"Great customer service, and they always provide upfront pricing. Great pricing and quality workmanship. Somehow, the emissions test is a duble price than any other shop. Also, they have dedicated overlanding parts shop."
