"Damon Thueson was my instructor in Provo UT. I am Very disappointed. I am a busy man and I dont have 5 and 1/2 hrs to sit through a sales pitch. Without his added BS and Damon trying to sell items from his business and his friends businesses the class would have taken maybe 1 hr to cover the information you must legally know. I suggest finding another class if you don't want to spend an entire Saturday learning nothing."

"Damon Thueson was my instructor. The helpful information could have been shared in 20-30 minutes. It was supposed to last 3 1/2 - 4 hours. We were there for around 5 hours. The majority of the time was spent listening to the instructor pitch his own stuff...i.e. "I offer lessons for shooting, and getting a proper stance...blah blah blah... I used to do it for free, but got so busy I have to charge people now. Only 20 bucks an hour... blah blah blah... I offer this booklet that tells you what to do after you kill someone in your home." I just got really burnt out after the first hour of this dude tooting his own horn about all his services and products he offered. I was under the impression that I would spend the majority of the time learning useful things about gun safety and carrying a concealed firearm. At one point he showed us a couple different types of stances for when you're firing a handgun. I thought he was going to have us stand up and practice it. Then maybe correct what he saw was wrong. NOPE. He said that we could pay him to take us to the range, and he could show us there. I think it would have only taken 10 minutes out of his useless rants in order to quickly give us some pointers on our stances or how we hold a gun. Whatever. I also found out (after paying of course) that if you're applying for a non-resident permit you actually have to have a permit in the state in which you reside before you apply for a permit in Utah. I think they could put some kind of explanation about that on their website. For example, my driver's license is from North Carolina, so I have to have a NC permit to get the utah permit. Or I have to prove residence in Utah and get a utah ID. Overall, I feel like it was a total rip off. Although you have to go to a class like this in order to get your license to carry concealed permit. Maybe if you take it from a different person you'll have a better experience. Overall I recommend that you do not take this class from Mr. Thueson if you actually want to learn something. If you're interested in hearing about the instructor's accomplishments and things he's selling - this is the perfect class for you!"
