"Thank you to whoever brought my dog in or called to have her picked up and I can't speak to anybody else's experience but I'm out of town and so far these folks have been very nice and anybody that's see some of these comments that there old and maybe those people don't even work there and the folks that do don't have to do anything they aren't comfortable with it's got to be hard to try to help so many animals and not be able to help all of them but let's please remember to be compassionate and kind to one another I will be changing my rating I don't really ever do reviews I just want those folks to know that you're making a difference and hopefully everybody else and myself included they were all just trying to be better right not just to the animals but to one another also thank you and be kind to yourself also"
"Honestly and unfortunately, I think one star is too generous. And, normally I leave quite positive reviews. My goal is to inform everyone of the reality of this shelter, so they can avoid similar awful experiences. My cat escaped our apartment and was found by a neighbor and taken to this shelter on a Friday afternoon. When I got home for work and realized she was missing, the animal shelter was closed (I get off at 5pm). I called and left messages but no one got back to me. I also contacted the local police station, which could offer help if you needed to drop an animal off at the shelter but not the other way around. They are not open on the weekends and don’t open until late in the morning. So our lovely cat was in the shelter for three days before we could get her home. They charged us $80 for an impounding fee and boarding fees. We thought this was preposterous since we would’ve picked her up Friday by 5:30 or any other time if they would’ve let us. We also had to pick her up within four hours of them opening Monday or we would’ve been charged for another full day of boarding. It would be very difficult for the average person to ever pick up an animal here since their hours are quite awful and are completely inflexible. To make things worse, she got the worst cold at the shelter. She’s been around many people, animals, and was outside in quite cold temperatures but has never gotten sick. Within a few days of her coming home from the shelter, it was apparent she was only getting worse and we had to take her to the vet. They diagnosed her with a kitty flu and said she picked it up from the shelter. The infection had traveled to her lungs and she had to be treated with antibiotics, a steroid, and a nebulizer. So another $330. In addition to getting sick, it was clear she was not treated well either. She was sad and not herself when she got home. She wouldn’t play anymore and always needed to be held. In addition she lost 3 pounds in 3 days!!! So I’m quite unsure of what our money was going towards. I understand that shelters are rough places and workers often are volunteer and just do the best they can but I’ve worked with shelters in the past and have never run into issues like this before. Please if you find an animal or are thinking of using the shelter. Don’t! There are other options."
"This animal shelter is no shelter, they are the most cruel and corrupted “shelter” I have ever seen. The pictures I have posted are after she was found, and before she got out. My family just went through the almost EXACT same situation as Rudy Guerrero, our cat even threw up the same yellow liquid before she passed. She was my first cat, she has been our best friend for 8 years and on Friday she was taken from us, it is Monday now. She got out 3 weeks ago, and around 2-2 1/2 weeks ago we went to the shelter to see if they had her and they didn’t which wasn’t a problem. I have been checking their lost cat pictures every two days since, I finally saw her picture on Thursday and I called at 10 o’clock and showed up to get her at 12. We were told they had her for 5 days on Thursday. We find her and they gave her shots and put her in the cat carrier we brought. Thursday we got home and she was deadly skinny, we gave her food and water which both she vomited back up, she was so happy to be home and our other animals were so happy to see her. We noticed she had a very chemically smell on her but never thought much of it, she was weak but during the night she was eating in small amounts and pottying well, and cuddling with our other animals because she was finally home. Friday morning she is much weaker and couldn’t even walk on her own, an hour later I found her twitching on the floor, she died in front of me and my boyfriend in our arms, my best friend of 8 years stopped breathing in our arms, she was killed. We had to watch as the life of our and our other pets best friend was taken from her, we are infinitely traumatized because of you, she was only home for barely a day. We thought she died from just being out for too long, but it was obvious she hadn’t eaten the entire time she was at north utah valley. We didn’t question her death until we saw reviews of other animals having the exact same thing happen. The people at north utah valley animal “shelter” have no compassion for the animals or people they deal with, there is a reason they have replied to no reviews. They have murdered hundreds of peoples animals and have not been shut down ?? We looked for her every day since she left. Did you notice I said I checked the pictures every two days and she was there for 5 ? I did NOT see her picture up. If these monsters actually cared about animals they would have seen she was deathly skinny and put an effort into taking care of her for the 5 days they had her, and we would have happily paid if they did. What instead happened is that she was given many shots we weren’t told about as we were only informed about the rabies shot, they later told my mom they gave her a myriad of shots we had no idea about, she was so obviously starved and scared here. They did not give her anything a malnourished cat needs, especially no food. No blanket nothing keeping her warm in the metal cages, my best friend, my 8 year old kitty, was murdered by the treatment of these monsters. There are hundreds of reviews detailing the same as me, this country is not free when the people meant to watch over our animals are given free reign to abuse them. This review will never phase the monsters who work here, they have no empathy in their body, this review is for others so please something needs to be done about north utah valley animal “shelter” I am begging with a broken heart. She spent her last night laying on the heating pad and loving on the entire family. My family had to bury her, she deserved so much more than this, rest in piece my beloved, I hope everyone in this place gets prosecuted, EVERY worker, every owner. Her name was Navi and I will never forget her."
"I agree with many others on here that if I could give 0 stars I would. Our cat went missing on a Friday and I called the following Monday, I gave a very clear description of her and was told she wasn’t there. Thursday night I decided to check their website and saw her. We went the next day to find out she had been brought in the previous Friday. So we were charged 7 nights, charged for a rabies shot they insisted they had to give her, and charged a holding fee and rough handled her pulling her out of a tiny box. However this isn’t even the worst of it. Our sweet, full of life cat, is now a shadow of herself, I don’t know what they did to her but she is absolutely traumatized. She has thrown up multiple times, won’t eat or drink, is half her size, doesn’t purr or meow anymore, she lays in 1 spot and doesn’t move at all. Her eyes look glazed over and black. It is absolutely horrifying and heartbreaking that they didn’t know what a grey cat with white stripes looks like so I could have got her on the Monday when I first called. The staff were extremely rude also. So DON’T trust a word they say and go see for yourself."
