Reviews of University of Utah Provo Pediatric Orthopedics
"Dr. Speirs was great! He did a great assessment and helped us understand what was going on and what we needed to do to help with the injury."
"Came here after my daughter broke her collar bone while out of town. They took an xray to confirm it was broken. The doctor was with us for a whole two minutes— touched her collarbone to feel the fracture and told her to keep it in the sling we were already using. Nothing else to do for a collarbone fracture. Was then charged $526 for “treatment of collarbone fracture.” That did not include the charge for the x-ray. Tried to dispute it but it didn’t work. They waived my portion of the bill but still charged my insurance for the whole thing. Totally dishonest in my opinion. $526 for treatment that did not happen. No wonder we have to pay so much to have insurance when we get billed incorrectly!"
"If i could give less stars i would. My child broke his wrist and the er doctor referred us to this place. When no experience in this field for myself, I took my child here. I will never do "Specialty" anything ever again. When I got the bill it was atrocious for what was done. Nearly over a grand for a cast and a couple of xrays and a doctor to tell me what was broken. When I called to figure out what 716 dollars was for, the definition i was given was that it was putting the bones back together. This was the definition i was told. Not what they told me after i had asked for a review of it. They didn't do anything of the sort. Bones were put back together in the er. Just a cast and two xrays. Today I learned the "New" definition of the code. Fracture care. So they think a cast is 716 dollars. A cast. Just so you guys know that i went to my main doctor and paid much less for "Fracture" care. I feel bad for anyone else that is referred to this place when you don't need to go. They will put you in a corner and change up definitions to get you to pay outrageous amounts. 716 for a cast. For two nurses to hold my child's hand and put on a cast. That is fracture care. I paid severely less at my main doctors for similar "fracture care" Honestly you guys need to figure out your "Definitions" for codes. I would never suggest going here for anything even if you need specialty care. Who knows what they would code. And yes i know i was dumb in listening to the er doctor and not just going to my own doctor, but I want others to know what they do in billing. Its pathetic. o stars."
"Dr. Jacobsen and his entire staff were wonderful to work with. He answered all of my questions and helped us get connected with the right hospital for my daughter's procedure. I had to call their office several times due to my insurance complications. The front desk staff and nurses Allie, Kaitlyn and Amber especially were helpful! Although we had to go with another provider (insurance) they were so friendly and understanding. I will definitely go back should any of my children need orthopedic care in the future. Thank you again."
"We had a wonderful experience with Dr. Jacobsen after we finally found the office. It's way too hard to find a pediatric orthopedic surgeon in Utah County but this office does a great job and knew way more about my daughter's accessory navicular bone than any other doctor we talked to and they were able to get us in in a timely manner and were easy to work with."
