Reviews of High Country Adventure
"I’ve been coming here for years and I absolutely love it, my favorite thing here is the kayaks. The owners are helpful and the staff is excellent. Enjoy the mighty provo!"
"Team was super nice and well organized. I did the guided tour as I was unfamiliar with the river. Guide drove us up stream a few miles and we floated down. This was definitely class I rapids. Didn’t get a drop of water on us. A great way to experience the absolutely gorgeous fall foliage. If you are into white water rafting, check the water flows first. If you just want to chill and experience nature, this is a great way to do it."
"This was so much fun! I can’t wait to come back and do it again! The views were great and it was a peaceful ride! They have small areas you can pull over to rest and eat, we even saw a group that brought a small grill. Our group took about 4 hours in total to float the river because we stopped a few times to warm up as the water was pretty cold. If you’re going to take your time or have a large group, I recommend getting there to be on the river by 1pm at the latest so it’s not dark by the time you make it down. Definitely bring extra sunscreen and shoes you can wear in the water, you will have to get in the water at some points. They had porta potties in the area where you pay and get your life jackets and pit toilets up at the start of the river where the bus drops you off but we didn’t see any during the river ride. The river is fairly shallow except for the end where you get out. We had guys who are over 6’ tall and couldn’t touch in the middle of the river, definitely something to be aware of for smaller people or kids as the water moves quick too. The drive up was easy and parking was free. We paid around $38 per person which to me is a great deal! It included the tube, life jacket, the bus ride up to the start of the river and there’s no time limit. We saw people bring their own tubes too but I saw so many popped tubes from the rocks and sticks in the trash or on the side of the water. The tubes they provide for you are definitely reinforced to handle the river, we didn’t see a single one popped. It was a great day and I can’t wait to do it again next summer!"
"It's a lot of fun. We enjoyed our time on a river. With temperatures hitting 100, it was very pleasant on water. It takes about 1.5 - 2 hours. I recommend getting a paddle with your tube. Otherwise, you will have no way to steer yourself. And you will need it! Few places have sharp rocks or low hanging branches that you want to avoid. Staff is very cheerful and helpful. But be aware, alcohol use is allowed on a river, so some partisapents get very careless by 1/2 of the run, stop paying attention to what is going on around then (or stoped carring), and creating a very dangerous situations. Although only cans officially allowed on a run, some people had glass bottles, and some bottles got broken and left in water. Personally, we got "run over" by a party of 8 young men who joined their tubes together using paddles, limiting their maneuverability. I was standing in a shallow, helping other people in our party when they floated tru us, nocking myself and my daughter of our feet, resulting in many bruises, bleeding scrapes, and minor cut in a head. Because current is very strong, rocks a wet, keeping your stand on a shallow is very difficult. It's almost impossible to move, They have seen us standing there about good 25 feet away, did not try to avoid us. Afterward, one yelled at us because we made him spill his cocktail. Again, this is not referring to a company. They provide overall great experience and steady and safe equipment. It reflects on people's selfish behavior and entitlement."
