Reviews of U of U Health University Orthopaedic Center
"I am at the mri and surgery front desk waiting for a cortisol shot in my back. The time is 10:35 on Thursday the 16th. A male and female employee are behind the desk discussing how much money they make, and how much they think others make. Kinda inappropriate. Besides that everything is great!"
"Highly competent, efficient and compassionate care. I recently completely tore my acl skiing and got in to see Dr. Maak 3 days later! He and his staff were so kind, informative, great listeners, and clear communicators. Mark Beese was so responsive to my email questions too. We are truly blessed to have such great caregivers in SLC!"
"Absolutely atrocious healthcare service, the phlebotomist who worked on my wife should be fired for lying on a medical form. I called this facility and they have not rectified this situation. My wife is healing from a broken foot and it is not healing fast enough. So the phlebotomist took 8 Giles of blood from my wife to test. She NEVER asked her if she was uneasy with blood draws. My wife ALMOST PASSED OUT and was sick for days. The phlebotomist LIED on the medical form and said my wife sat through the blood withdrawal with no issues…. THAT IS A LIE AND ILLEGAL TO FALSIFY PATIENT INFORMATION. This phlebotomist yelled at my wife after taking her blood. She said to her “you should have told me you don’t give blood well” as my wife is passing out…. My wife says “you never asked me any questions you just started taking my blood or I would have told you”. It is NOT the PATIENTS job to do the phlebotomist job for them, how the heck is my wife supposed to read minds and know that she is supposed to stop the blood draws? Like come on, who is this phlebotomist working at the U of U healthcare. This person needs to be held accountable for lying on medical forms… MY WIFE ALMOST PASSED OUT AND HAS BEEN SICK AND FATIGUED. The fact I called this place and told them about this serious problem is concerning because they hung up on me and never called back. If any lawyers read this please try to contact me if we have a case for incompetence. I will call this facility again on Monday to make them hold the phlebotomist accountable. This place is NOT PROFESSIONAL and they do not follow common healthcare policies and procedures, be very careful when you get healthcare from this institution. AWFUL and DANGEROUS SERVICE, BE VERY WARY people. Do not trust your loved ones here."
"My wife broke her shoulder in a skiing accident. There is a medical clinic at the resort and the doctor took x-rays showing the break. He called Dr. Thomas Higgins, Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Utah Medical Center and asked him if there was any chance he could do surgery on her before we flew back to St. Louis three days later. Dr. Higgins said he would check his schedule and called back within the hour and said he could do the surgery the NEXT DAY. That was absolutely AMAZING. That would never have happened back home. It would have taken several weeks before she could have had the surgery and by then, it would have been too late to do any good. We were at the surgery center the next morning and all of the doctors and nurses were very attentive to her needs. They were constantly asking if she was comfortable and would she like another pillow or blanket. Before the surgery, Dr. Higgins came in and talked to us about the procedure and drew a diagram of her shoulder on a board on the wall showing exactly what he was going to do. After the surgery, Dr. Higgins came out in the waiting area and told me the surgery went very well. I asked him if he was happy with the way it went and he said he was. I said, if he was happy, we were happy. He smiled and shook my hand. Dr. Higgins and his staff deserve all of the accolades that can be bestowed upon them. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Barbara Hunter and Wayne Ault"
"I've been coming in weekly for the past 6 weeks post op and have been so thankful for this place. Karl, my PT, is incredible and I feel like I've been able to gain mobility in my arm after a biceps tendonesis surgery. The front desk staff is amazing, always willing to help get things booked and also will add you to a cancellation list if you need to try to be seen earlier. Top care service!"
