Reviews of Utah Valley Pain Medicine
"Highly recommend this office. Everyone is compassionate and doing their best to help people live less painful lives. Front desk staff are wonderful. Norman is amazing. Down to earth. Roger is a hoot. Great PT. Randy is an excellent therapist. Does EMDR, which has been very helpful. This office has an attitude that the best way to feel better is to use a combination of treatments, and to not only treat the body, but also the mind, and emotional needs. I think some folks aren’t wanting this combination, and may have a hard time with it? I’m perplexed by some of the negative reviews, so that’s why I mention this. If you resonate with the attitude and suggested treatments in the book, The Body Keeps The Score, you’ll probably feel comfortable here."
"My experience with this clinic. The people are all very nice. But I feelike the person that I see doesn't listen to me about my back problems. I. Have tried to communicate my concerns I could sit down for most of the time and be free of Of most of my pain but I don't think that is the way to live. I don't want to turn into a vegetable. Never being off the couch. I need to relieve for my pain so I can carry on with things. I'd like to do which at this point are impossible almost. Norm has sent me several times for shots in my low bat but they do not work anyway. I'm just kind of at my wit saying it took me a long time to get to where I'm at now and I feel like I'm just going backwards."
"I absolutely love this office. I was able to get off of the opiates that I'd been on for years and am now pursuing alternate pain treatment. Norm saved me. The whole staff is welcoming and kind. I truly feel like the staff care about me and my well-being."
"Everyone has been nice that i have spoken to, but this clinic is lacking a major aspect of pain management, female psychologists. To continue opioid pain management you must have a psychological opioid evaluation but they only have 3 male psychologists. Some women, or men, are more comfortable with a certain gender especially with something such as a psychological evaluation. I asked if I could go out of network, even willing to pay out if network costs, to see a female psychologist and bring the report back and they said no I must see one of their psychologists. I understand the importance of a psych eval, I am more than happy to do one, but with a female. If you cannot provide the services they should allow you to go to a licensed psychologist elsewhere to get the report needed to continue your pain management medications. Instead I have been living in a painful nightmare for 3 months while I wait for surgery. I currently live in an 8/10 pain 24/7 and I often go 3 days without sleeping from pain. I have wasted all of my sick leave on doctors appointments including an appointment here and now do not have any more sick leave to try out other clinics."
"They have been wonderful in accommodating our (my daughter and myself) special needs and sticking with us until we get the right medications that work with the fewest side effects. They have been much more informed about the interaction of drugs and the increased risks when one keeps adding, so it is very reassuring that we are being treated by specialists who are talking with each other rather than having to hope a doctor looks at the info I bring them from other doctors. Given our sensitivities to drugs and multiple disorders, treating the whole patient is so necessary. Can’t say enough good things about everyone there. Norm even made a special balloon out of a glove when he found out it was my daughter’s birthday (she is 30, but loves some fun). The physical therapist, Roger, is fantastic, never uses guilt if life got in the way off exercising. I am looking forward to participating in group therapy, they have a couple of versions and I may end up going to them all eventually. We have had a few long waits, not many. We understand that is a drawback of being specialists working with patients with complicated health problems. Well worth the wait, but you might want to schedule appts for when you don’t have to be somewhere immediately afterwards just in case. A good time to catch up on emails or play games. :) The only issue I have with them is the communication about medication and insurance. Have to leave messages and have ended up playing phone tag a few times. When it involves getting approval from insurance quickly, can be frustrating, but over all it works fine with a little patience and persistence. I would take off just a half star though if I could."
