Reviews of McKay-Dee Behavioral Health Inpatient
"I went to the crisis center needing emotional support. I was going through a medical health crisis and was jacked up on an insane amount of Prednisone and other medications. These medications made me feel crazy. I was already having anxiety and panic attacks from the whole medical ordeal, but the medicine made everything so much worse. I got checked in, and my husband was not allowed to come in with me. Ok fine. Shortly after that the therapist, who seemed extremely annoyed for some reason, raised her voice and asked "why are you here?" It made me feel like a burden and did not help the situation at all. I wanted to leave, but they would not let me. I did not know this was the protocol. I called my husband and he was irate. We were not aware this would happen, and I feel they should have made us aware of this while we were checking in. The nurses were treating me like a five year old, and talking down to me. They let me go like 2 hours after checking in. Horrible experience, but i gave 2 stars because I learned one coping mechanism while there."
"I called to try and get help for my son. He was in an Intermountain facility in Boise and was discharged while having an adverse reactions to Invega. Instead of switching medicines, they treated the symptoms of the reaction with more pills and discharged him on the Invega shot. It lasts a month. He is still hearing voices still paranoid and delusional.. I called this facility to see about arranging to transport him down to Salt Lake for treatment. The lady on the phone was absolutely apathetic. She had the manner of a snake. Cold, almost snide and not helpful in anyway. If I'm driving 400 miles and can't arrange something in advance, it seems ridiculous. Then I learned this is also an Intermountain owned facility. Local counselors have spoken directly to the Intermountain Invega problem they are seeing in the community of people who have been hospitalized there.. Basically giving people the shot and pushing them out the door."
"This is the most awful facility. My 9 year old niece was admitted by her mother that can’t handle her and wants to control her and cut out my brother. The staff won’t listen to my niece nor anyone in my family to understand that my niece doesn’t have actual problems and her mom is the one that needs help. They refuse schoolwork for her and won’t let her play. The staff doesn’t listen to concerns and groups all kids together when making assumptions about their mental health. They have her on such a high dose of medications that she isn’t even herself anymore. What an absolutely disgusting excuse for “helping children.” Please try other things with your kids before committing them to a facility that only wants to make money from the state and they will keep kids committed to keep tax payers paying! As an aunt all I can do is sit by and watch as they torture my niece."
"The pediatric inpatient unit is mostly great. My kid really got the help she needed. Im giving one star just because I noticed some concerning interactions between my daughter and one of the staff named Larry. Honestly it was downright creepy. I don't know how well they vet their staff but this one clearly needs to go. While visiting I saw Larry inappropriately interacting with many of the female patients. It is incredible unprofessional and upsetting"
