Reviews of South Davis Community Hospital (SDCH)
"As a cna on the second floor, I am deeply frustrated with the behavior of our charge nurse April Eggleston. Despite numerous complaints to HR about her unprofessionalism and favoritism, no action has been taken due to her close relationship with the director of nursing and the fact that her sister is part of HR. This unfair treatment is affecting morale and weakening the standard of care we strive to provide to our patients."
"My daughter was forced to be here by primary children's doctors, they lied to us and said how wonderful this hospital was and that they would give her so much Interaction. Despite the looks of the place we agreed to have her there because they claimed it would get her home faster. They put her in a completely closed crib and she was 4, instantly she hated being there. I always felt bad for leaving primary because the parent guilt but it was nothing compared to how horrible I felt leaving her there. I remember leaving and seeing six emergency lights go off and only two staff there trying to answer them. Keep in mind some of these rooms had kids who were infants and toddlers. I brought up my concerns about how understaffed they were and was treated rudely by the social worker for saying anything. I would spend hours with my daughter and see 2 people in a 6 hour period come check in on the year old roommates who shared the room with my daughter. This was on a daily basis. The nurses were nice and it's not there fault they are so understaffed. The nurses and aides I believe really did try hard to help the kids but 4 kids to one nurse is to many, especially kids with traches. I believe they also hindered our teaching on trache classes to keep our daughter as long as possible. We found out the day she was transfered to south davis we could've taken her home instead but were lied to by her doctors. This place is not equipped to deal with children eho need attention and constant care. we pulled her out the second we got the chance and stood firm against primary children's that our girl was never going back to there. I find out today they are lying saying she is still being cared for by them there to charge us child support even though she was only there 3 weeks. I would never recommend to make any child suffer here."
"I've experienced and received disrespectful attitude from Lorey the head manager of nurses I suppose is her title. While talking about my son's well-being and possible outcomes. She said my son won't be going home and treated and acted like I was dumb and didn't understand what is going on with my son."
"My wife spent almost two months at this facility recently, I could not have been more pleased with the level and quality of care she received here. Everyone, including the nursing staff, physical therapists, social workers, transpiration staff, recreational therapists, even the administration staff treated her with the upmost respect and kindness. About 20 years ago she worked here for a number of years, so when the hospital she was getting discharged from gave her a list of SNF’s she could go to this was her first choice. She was pleasantly surprised to see a lot of her former co-workers still worked here and remembered her. The fact that staff would stay around for that many years says a lot about the caliber of an organization. If we ever need a SNF in future this will always be our first choice."
"I am so grateful for SDCH . My son has been a long term resident for almost 29 years. Over the years he has had numerous people take care of him. All have been very caring and sensitive to his specific needs. Through out the years my son and I have developed some special relationships with the in house school teachers he had, nurses, CNAs, respiratory therapists, social workers and especially recreation therapists. Every one at SDCH plays a role in the care and well being of my son and every patient. From the nursing staff , recreation therapy, respiratory therapists, occupational therapists, social workers, (the kind maintenance workers who find time to hang up a new tv), the house keepers who keep everything clean and spotless, and the laundry department for washing their clothes. And every one else I forgot to name. They all work as a team to make SDCH a home for my son.(And for every patient). It is HOME . I give my gratitude and thanks to everyone. I want to give a special shoutout to Margo Evans and the whole recreation department for making “ outings” possible for me and my son. And for all of the fun activities you do with him and all of the other patients. (including the music therapy and pet therapy and all the volunteers!) It provides so much positive stimulation which is what they all need. And for putting smiles on everyones faces. Thank you for being the BEST at all you do . I recommend SDCH if you ever need some one to care for your loved one .."
