"Wonderful experience! The way my RMUoHP experience affected my opportunities and relationships is through the connections made both personally and professionally. I may not have had the opportunity to meet and establish relationships that will be long-lasting. The strengths of my program were the small cohort environment, residencies, and the convenience of the classes being held online. I have changed because of my experience at RMUoHP through the growth that came from the sometimes challenging assignments or the challenges the professors invited me to try. The reason people should consider enrolling in RMUoHP will vary based on individual needs. The small groups and the friendships I have made along the way will be valuable lifelong. My cohort cares about and for each other. We have become our own little family. We trust each other and will seek advice from each other for as long as we want to do so. "RMUoHP fit my unique needs as a full time employee, business owner, wife and mother attempting to complete a PhD. I had tried two other programs - one in-person but an hour from my home and one all-online. Neither worked for me. RMUoHP provided the perfect blend of online flexibility and in-person experiences. I loved our onsite experiences meeting other students in my cohort and meeting our professors. I made forever friends and valuable connections for my career. I loved getting to see the sites and study surrounded by the beautiful Utah mountains. I loved that my program also included preparation for the National Board Certification for Health and Wellness Coaches as this gave me a valuable and marketable credential in an emerging field in addition to the PhD. I've had many obstacles in this process and from first attempt, its taken 8 years to earn my PhD. RMUoHP made it doable where other programs just didn't. "I had worked in the school setting for nearly ten years when I decided to go back to school for my school counseling degree. RMU provided exactly what I needed - evening, online classes which were ideal for me as a mom of young kids and full-time worker. Although the classes were online I had the opportunity to meet my cohort at 3 in-person residencies - what an amazing experience to meet people I was able to connect with in such beautiful ways! Many of these relationships I hope to last a lifetime. I also appreciated all my professors and the diversity of classes I took. This is a newer program but I felt the faculty were completely invested in the success of each student, and they were also very open to feedback. I have always felt very supported through this entire program. I loved the reinforcement of essential counseling skills such as listening, summarizing, and reflecting. I learned the value of empathetic listening in both my professional and personal life. I'm so grateful for this education and am excited to continue full-time work as a licensed counselor!!! "I looked at several different programs to earn my doctorate. However, I felt the coursework and the dissertation process was the best for me at RMUoHP. The university far exceeded my expectations. They have different programs that were not available when I started my journey toward my PhD, which I wish was available because I would have earned my PhD in another area than the present.
