"This school is great for students who are PURELY focused on education. Personally, I didnt have great experiences with this school. Nothing against the classes and most the teachers. I once got told that I was being, "too social" for talking to some friends in the hall during a passing period. 5 stars for getting an associates, 2 stars from personal experience."
"Our oldest was not excelling in the school environment he was in for middle school. We heard of UCAS from a friend and my son was instantly drawn in. He went from C's D's and F's to A's and B+'s. It's a perfect fit for him. It's great for those that just want to focus more on school and getting ready for college."
"UCAS has been a great experience for my kids! They love that the teachers are knowledgeable and invested in their education as well as the small class sizes (15 students or less) and a student body full of kids who love to learn and be challenged. They also like that they will graduate from high school with an associate's degree and have a head start on college. If you're child is looking for a career in science, technology, engineering, or math then you should definitely look into UCAS. My one caveat is there is very little to no performing or visual arts and no sports. If you decide on UCAS, you will have to supplement those outside of school."
"I have five kids and three of the five have worked their way through UCAS now. It's unlike any other public program in Utah. Other high schools offer college credit, but only UCAS will keep your student on track and offer enough diversity in classes to get them their Associate's Degree when they graduate from high school. Yes. At the same time. I pay $5 a credit for them (so for a 3 credit class that is $15). If you do the math, that is $300 for an associates degree. Try and get that somewhere else? Every one of our five children will go there and every one of them (I am confidant) will get their associates degree at the same time as the required High School diploma and it will only cost me $1500. That is half of ONE semester's tuition for one student at UVU...but for all five of my children starting out just one step ahead of youth their age. The staff at UCAS is also incredibly dedicated and caring. Students are held to higher standards of attendance, academic performance, and scholarship. My daughters have all taken speech (I encourage them to) and it helps with self confidence and social skills which are both needed in life today. UCAS also has the BEST support staff. From secretaries (we love you Julie!) to administration (Jennilyn is amazingly compassionate and fair, organized and capable of her role as principal) to counselors (RAND is the man) and assistant secretaries, we just love UCAS. I love watching my children struggle, plan, practice their way through UCAS. The homework typically takes them 2-4 hours after school. It is not for the uncommitted because if you fail a college course, you pay it back (at market value!!) so don't think this is a gimme. It's hard work but it's the best High School/Early College High School available and I'm happy to leave them a review (since my kids already bypass the lottery for sibling privileges;) and hope more academically minded parents will send their children here for an early start on college:)"
"My son loves this small school! It offers him more individual attention from his teachers, and it's easier to make friends. He loves the challenging college level classes. We are very excited for him to graduate with his associates degree from UVU."
