Reviews of Mountain High School
"My Son has only been going here about a month or so, but had really been struggling with the regular High school, was failing most classes and hating school. We had tried everything we could think of through the school, but nothing was working. I finally had him tested by an agency after fighting the schools for years trying to get him more help. Found out he had ADHD (inattentive type) among some other specific learning disabilities. These struggles and continuing to fail led to depression and anxiety. After just a couple of weeks here, my son was so much happier and less stressed. He went from failing to straight A's which was something we had just not expected to see! This is a great boost to his confidence, I'm so glad we made the choice to move him here. The teachers have been awesome, truly caring and want to see these kids succeed! I always knew he was very intelligent, but something was missing and he didn't fit the square mold in traditional school."
"Mountain high gives every student the opportunity to achieve the goals they want to achieve. The faculty and staff is so wonderful! It’s always welcoming and supportive !!"
"If you have a student that struggles in traditional school...due to anxiety, ADHD, or any other reason...this can be an amazing alternative! Smaller class sizes permit increased individual guidance and encouragement. There is more accountability...and less homework. They have wonderful, caring and motivating teachers as well as a friendly and encouraging administration. A smaller student body makes personal communication with teachers and staff readily available. Yes, like any school, students have the ability to get into a bad crowd. But don't let the term "Alternative School" make you fear that it is a school created as a place to transfer pregnant and drug addicted kids...to separate them, in order to protect the "good" kids at your local high school. That thought is utterly INACCURATE. I have two sons. One at Mountain High, and one at Davis High. At Davis High, my Sophomore has been offered marijuana gummies...IN CLASS...several times. Don't be fooled by the outstandingly moral reputation of this area! Any student who wishes to, is easily introduced to an on-campus "hook up" (dealer). Standards regarding alcohol as well as our community's moral stance on abstinence...are unashamedly ignored while among peers. At Mountain High...just as at Davis...there exist just a many solid, drug free students for your child to choose to associate with. Some students simply get lost in the crowd, trying to excel in large public high schools. It is SO difficult to achieve adequate recognition...when you are one of 2,500 students. For some personality types, finding their niche and being motivated by the opportunity to excel above the crowd and gain recognition in an area of personal interest...is ESSENTIAL for personal encouragement and motivation! If they can only ever hope to be one of several HUNDRED trying to climb to the top of only a dozen excel-to-recognition ladders...they often decide there is no point in TRYING to THRIVE..and school becomes a tortuous chore they are forced to endure. If that is happening to your child...you should look into Mountain High. Where hiking to the top is POSSIBLE and the cheering on is LOUDER."
"This is the best school I have ever attended. The teachers here are your friends and want to see you succeed. This is not a school for bad kids, it's a school for kids who did not thrive in a regular high school. At Mountain, no one is an outcast, a loser, or a failure. Everyone is welcome. I love the staff here."
"the staff and professional educators at this school are personally vested in the success of the students here, and care very much! It has been an honor to be affiliated with this institution in any capacity!"
