"⚠️PLEASE READ⚠️ if you're thinking of taking your child here or you're wanting a job here. If you're thinking about putting your child into day care please don't take them here. The teachers are all so incredibly rude to your children (not all but the ones who are rude are praised/higher up for who knows what reason). Mack in the blue room yells at your kids louder than they know how to yell. Gracie in the mint will tell your children with water soaked pants (in the winter) to stay in them because “they did that to themselves”. Shelly in the green room will teach your kids about classroom bully's and to be rude to them and/or to not be their friend because they’re “rude” (even though they're 4 and shouldn't even know what a classroom bully is) she will also yell at the kids for yelling outside (even though kids have an inside voice and an outside voice and should know when to use one or the other so teaching them to not yell outside is just confusing them. Like cmon they're literally children). If your kid is a picky eater or doesn't like certain food they will not offer your child a different option, your child will go without eating until snack time (which has happened multiple times with multiple children that are currently at the center). The owners and managers have unfortunately made this seem like a great place to take your kids, they specifically choose what rooms to show you during the walk through so that it looks all happy and rainbows. But in reality it's not, and if you care about how your very little child is being treated and what they are being taught at school by the very unprofessional teachers/owners I would recommend that you don't take your kid here. Granted there are some amazing teachers there that will actually care for and teach your kid but that’s not something they push for or praise at this establishment. Now, if you want a job. I HEAVILY advise you to work somewhere else. The owners run this place in such an unprofessional way. There are walkie-talkies in every room that are all connected, and Allison (the owner) will call on them and say "so and so come to my office.... And no you're not in trouble" but then if you are in trouble or it's something more important that they need to talk to you about they will call on the walkout talkies, which again are connected to EVERY room and say "so and so you need to come to my office" which just lets every teacher and some of the older children know that you are infact in trouble. Which in my opinion is SO unprofessional, no one besides the person getting in trouble should know they are in trouble. Oh and on the topic of getting in trouble, they value the teachers that cause the drama and are the problem as well as the teachers who are incredibly rude to the children, instead of writing them up or talking to them about their inappropriate behavior. There are teachers who specifically take their breaks when the kids go outside just so that they don't have to play with the kids, yet teachers who play with the kids will get written up for not playing with the kids. Kinda backwards if you think about it. Both Allison and her husband are a cause for a lot of the drama that goes on in that building between the teachers because 1. they don't ever actually do anything to stop it and 2. They add onto it, such as laughing behind the teachers backs as well as talking to other teachers and management about specific teachers and what not. I've never worked in such a toxic environment in my life and it's all thanks to how the owners handle situations. The fact that they (the owners) are the problem and that they praise the bad teachers by letting them be part of management and giving them raises, instead of praising the teachers who do their job good and treat your kids kindly is just so backwards in my opinion. So if you're looking for a toxic work place that only pays their employees $13 an hour then work here by all means. But if you care about being treated right and with an ounce of respect this isn't going to be the place for you."
"If I could put negative stars, I would. On a waitlist for 2+ years. Finally they called and said they had 3 different spots in different classes (potty trained, not potty trained, and a no naps class). We were so excited, pulled her from her other daycare and declined two others. One week before start date and they told us her spot was filled. They lied to me and said the family they had spots open up from decided to stay…. (There were 3 spots in 2 different classes for her age group… so were they triplets all in different classes?). They had tried to get me to start asap, so that also didn’t add up… They decided two weeks later to stay? I’m fully convinced this was a discriminatory decision (and usually I would not think that). It was blatantly obvious by the messages sent back and forth that they were discriminating against my daughter. To be honest, we were on the fence about taking her here anyway. It seemed a little robotic and the kids didn’t seem happy at all. The teachers weren’t enthusiastic and I didn’t feel 100% comfortable. So we decided it was in our favor things didn’t work out. Also, they were extremely unprofessional. Wouldn’t call me over the phone. Only communicate they no longer had a spot via text. Told me I wasn’t allowed to come in due to hostility and they didn’t want my daughter going there in the future."
"My son went to NorthStar from 4 months old to three years. It was a heavy heart that we made the decision to move, because NorthStar had become family to us. All the teachers and directors are so professional and kind, and they sincerely care about my son’s growth and happiness. They are so patient with teaching him how to become a little man, and he has grown into a sweet and friendly guy because of their care. I miss them terribly and hope we can visit in the future."
"Highly recommend! We've moved several times in the last few years and have been in a handful of daycares and this one by far has been our favorite. The teachers greet your kid with a smile and say welcome to the class. Staff is wonderful and go out of their way to accommodate your kids. My kids have enjoyed going to daycare here and we're really sad to leave."
"I wanted to wait a while to write a review to allow me to get a good feel for things. Our boys, 3 and 6 have been going to Northstar for almost 5 months now. Allison is great to work with and we really appreciate how she operates everything. Any concerns (as rare as they are) have been addressed immediately and appropriately. The teachers in the classrooms are great with both boys. We're very happy with the curriculum that they work with both boys on and the homework help allows time at home to be reserved for family time and not school work. Overall a great place that I highly recommend."
