About the Boyhood Home of LBJ
The Boyhood Home of LBJ is located at 200 East Elm Street in Johnson City, Texas, United States. This historic institution was where the 36th President of the United States lived from the age of five until his high school graduation in 1924. The home is furnished in the early to mid-1920s period, giving visitors a glimpse into a rural Texas lifestyle from a century ago.
Visitors can join park staff for a 30-minute program about the childhood home of President Lyndon B. Johnson, which is available daily at the National Park Visitor Center in Johnson City. The grounds of the nearly 2-acre property are also open for visitors to explore and enjoy the exterior porches of the home.
During the hot Texas summers, visitors should be prepared for high temperatures as the Boyhood Home does not have air conditioning, in keeping with its 1920s appearance. The home was designed with features to help cool the interior, such as porches, high ceilings, and windows for cross breezes. Tours may be limited during the summer months due to the high interior temperatures, so it is recommended to visit early in the morning for a chance to take a tour of the Boyhood Home.

Reviews of Boyhood Home of LBJ
"This was such an interesting stop on the way to visit the LBJ historic park. We did the free walking tour with the visitors center and it was great. You get to learn about LBJ’s early years and the influence his parents had on his trajectory."
"Tour of home was highlight. Also farm few blocks away where LBJ grandparents settled. A must stop"
"Nothing special. We went to find his other house and ranch. Ranch was a ranch but many cars stopped at the airplane and we all wanted to know how to get to the house. Signs maybe helpful!!! Total disappointment"
"Great piece of history! The staff were very polite and friendly. They had a tremendous amount ok knowledge about the place and it was just a neat experience."
"A definite worthwhile experience, Lonnie our volunteer tour guide was excellent!!!! Johnson City is a cute little town with several nice shops and restaurants"
